I would do it, with the caveat that it not cost Butler playing time.
While it certainly appears that he has lost it, he is still only 33; perhaps he could recapture some of his prior magic. Dude was a damn fine power hitter for a fairly long stretch, and while it looks like he has fallen off a cliff the last 2 seasons, his OPS this year is still higher than Ross Gload’s.
It wouldn’t cost us anything more than a prorated share of league minimum to sign him, I believe. What if something clicks, and he regains at least part of his prior abilities? That would be one helluva bargain for a franchise in desperate need of another power hitter. It might also give us the inside edge on signing him as a FA for next year.
Of course, the cynic in me says why would they do this, but not make an offer to an even better player available at the minimum (Bonds)?

he is a major upgrade over slaptastic and hacktastic gload….while sexson strikes out a lot, he also hits balls really far….haha

Here's a good idea
On Mondays a Seattle bar was offering beer at prices that corresponded to Sexson’s batting average. So, he’s hitting .218 and beers are $2.18. Any chance someone could get this going for TPJ or would they be out of business?
