Jose Capellan - another former Brave!

Don't know if I missed it on here somewhere, but the Royals picked up Jose Capellan on a minor league contract:

• RHP Jose Capellan, who made one big league appearance this season with the Rockies and has pitched the parts of the previous four seasons in the majors with the Braves, Brewers and Tigers, has signed a minor league contract with the Royals and assigned to their Class AAA Omaha club.

Aye, aye Cappy.
Jose Capellan stats

He was decent in the big leagues are recently as 2006, although his peripherals stunk. Looks like solid filler for Omaha.

Moore & ex-Braves

A competent G.M. needs to open his mind more to the possibility of acquiring possibly just a bit fewer ex-Braves. Just seems like a convenient copout, to me. Capellan may be organizational filler, but I wonder if Davies and Pena are getting/will receive more extended “passes” because of their former organizational affiliation.

I think its fine

I make fun, but really its fine. These are just organizational filler guys. Dayton knows them well. I’d rather he sign guys he knows and thinks have some utility than guys he knows nothing about.

Now, if he signs Mark Lemke to a $40 million deal, we have problems.

No matter how good/bad the move, this joke will never get old for me. Sorry for everyone else.

I am fine with this "pitching is the currecny of baseball" philosophy,

but if it isgoing to really be put into effect than there must be cases where the Royals “sell” some of their pitching for offensive help. I’d like to see more of that happen in the next year.

Capellan seems like a non-impact move. He is fine but it sure looks unlikely that he will ever make much of a difference on the MLB level. Of course I thought the same thing about Ramon Ramirez when he came on board. Maybe something randomly good will happen.

Still alive.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
