anyone else having problems with images displayhing on the main page?

I can see some in thread comments, but the avatars on the right are missing, with just the “filename” showing, and the same is true of, e.g., the “Gilgameche” picture on the previous story…

Unlike Floyd, Danks appears to be a genuinely good pitcher

Here’s hoping we see the good Bannister today and that he keeps the ball down and that the wind is blowing in.

Danks added a cutter this year and has become a moderate groundballer

He has really cut down on the home runs, which was his problem last year. This year, Danks is above average across the board:

Made it back from vacation

plane ride was uneventful. Got in my car last night just in time to hear that we won 9-1. What a nice surprise.

Hate to say it, but I tend to agree with the host, I don’t have much faith in Bannister lately, especially against a bunch of TTO hitters in a bandbox of a ballpark. But, he’s much smarter than me so I’m sure he’s got something special planned.

Just got back from vacation last night!

I covered Sioux Falls, SD to Butte, MT in one day, with 3 kids and the wife in the car….. It was fun.

We made it to the Royals game on the 11th v. The Mariners, which we won, 3-1. Of course, my camera batteries died upon arrival at the ballpark.

I really don't know what to say... Did the post above this signature make sense? Probably not.

I was at that game as well. A real solid baseball game. Great pitching. Sharp fielding. Smart baserunning. As soon as the good guys got to Hernandez they bunched hits and scored runs. Nice fireworks afterward. Oh, and plus a new straw hat!

I’ll be listening to the game today while I work. My wife and I got rid of our cable a few months back because we were so fed up with Sunflower here in Lawrence. The only TV I miss so far is Royals games and the occasional episode of Monk or The Closer.

It was a good game....

Man, ‘The Closer’ is awesome. When my wife started watcing it, I thought it was going to be a sort of ‘CSI’ clone, but I really do enjoy watching ‘The Closer’.

I’m actually considering a move back to the KC area in the next couple of years, and Lawrence is pretty high on my list of target living areas. Also in the running are OP, Weatherby Lake, Liberty, St. Joe, and Columbia.

Lawrence is a great town to live in for a few years.

My wife and I have been pretty happy here. I’m ready to get back to a bigger city now but that says more about me than about Lawrence.

And yeah, The Closer really is good stuff. I just finished season three DVDs. Kate does a good Brenda Leigh imitation. “Why do you refuse to go down to the store and buy me that chocolate cookie when you know I haven’t been feeling well!”

Norman chokes while simultaneously crapping his pants in the last round of a major. Maybe too busy selling wine, clothing, designing golf courses and banging Chris Evert.
