Game 103 Open Thread - Rays (59-41) at Royals (45-57)

Tampa Bay Rays at Kansas City Royals, Jul 24, 2008 8:10 PM EDT

Gil Meche finds Matt Garza's constant smiling for pictures to be unsettlingly un-manly.

Of course, compared to his Twins days, he's making progress towards the joyless, menacing, version masculinity that we expect.

Oh, and Garza (17.1 VORP) has been better than Meche (12.3 VORP) this season, which is really something to scowl about.

Yes, But...

Omaha still has 4 OF’s (Costa, Lubanski, Buchanon, Hollins) and only one 1B(Stodolka) who frankly isn’t producing very well (.278/.337/.401)

My pick.. Ramon Ramirez throws 55 pitches for no apparent reason (on Tuesday, Peralta was out there for 50+ pitches for no apparent reason)

He toasted Gobble back in April

before Gobble had given up a run. 45 pitches in 2/3rds of an inning against Cleveland, and Gobble got pulled before facing a lefty

Yeah

random game commuting note

going out of the South gate and turning left onto Raytown road = dumb idea, why didn’t I just drive across the lot to Stadium drive?

that’s a note from April 07

by BHWick on Jul 24, 2008 10:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

there isn’t any way to get onto 435 from Raytown Road, is there?

by BHWick on Jul 24, 2008 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You can southbound

But northbound, you can’t get onto 435 from Raytown OR Stadium Drive. You have to use I-70, or Manchester to 23rd.

I Thought It

Was Gordon’s, but the SS should be able to call him off it.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

I could hear Aviles call for it

over the TV; surely Gordo could hear it too?

by minda33 on Jul 24, 2008 10:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously, that is at least the fifth time this season

Gordon has refused to yield for the SS. He did it to TPJ a couple of times, too.

I asked this yesterday, I'll ask again now:

Bets on how long before Aviles and Gordon exchange blows?

Side bet: will Aviles start it (sick of Gordon getting in his way), or will Gordon start it (jealous because Aviles is playing better)?
