"In the early 1980s, many baseball players were using cocaine. Some of them got into trouble, and a few of Brett’s Kansas City teammates went to prison. Now, I’m not going to suggest that Brett was using cocaine, but I do know he was considered one of the hardest partiers in the Midwest at that time. Funny thing, though … Brett never got into any trouble. None that made the papers, anyway."
-Rob NeyerBarack Obama went to school in Indonesia. Indonesia has a lot of Muslim extremists. Some of them have engaged in terrorism. Now, I'm not going to suggest Barack Obama is a Muslim extremist terrorists, but I do know he is willing to negotiate with Iran. Funny thing though, Barack hasn't gotten into any trouble. None that made the papers anyway.

Wow, was that as reckless and unfair to Brett as it seems to me?
“I don’t have any evidence that George Brett used cocaine, but some people he knew did, so hey he probably did. And if we didn’t hear about it, it proves that there was a coverup.”
It’s pretty irresponsible for a journalist to write something like that in the national media.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I almost ignored this
Ahhhh, I misunderstood this at first. You are suggesting the unfairness to Brett and lumping it with something into today’s terms?
I was thinking you were making a political comment and was kind of confused why it was on this site…..slooooow

Yea
I thought I was risking being too subtle with my sarcasm. For the record, I volunteered for the Obama campaign.

Brett was a star Who cares Neyer
Michael Jordan is a known gambler and has gotten extra it’s a fact. Are you just jealous that as a fishwrap reporter you can’t have a pile of cocaine on your paper snorting it.
Rob Neyer “I used to be a Huge George Brett fan, then he started brushing me off now I must DESTROY HIM.”

I used to like Rob Neyer,
but that is COMPLETELY out of line, bordering on libelous.
Rob Neyer, you are dead to me.
Wonder what Rany would have to say about this asinine comment?

All I saw from other clips is the two managers argued with each other and then one pushes the other and all hell breaks loose
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Its about the Pinetar incident
Neyer: Brett knew just how to control his emotions
I don’t have Insider, so I can’t say, and perhaps I’m taking him wildly out of context. I got the quote from this blogpost.

It's a little weird
not knowing the context, but it’s still a bizarre statement.

Just read the entire article and the gist of it is
about how George Brett had restraint/self control. Re: the Pine Tar Incident – Neyer noticed after watching the clip a few years ago that as George approached McClelland, he actually held himself back rather than the common perception that others held him back.
The point he was making with the quote in quesiton is that he either showed the self control not to use cocaine even though everyone else was, or at least , if he was using it, he showed enough restraint not to get caught. Basically, he knew exactly how far he could go in all situations without getting himself in trouble, i.e. suspended from baseball.
Maybe not AS bad when taken in context, but he could have done without the subtle accusation.

You're probably right, but let's not overreact to a brief mention of Obama, McCain, Clinton, Bush or some other politician
Will has been clear that he’d really rather we not get into political discussions or debates, but the occasional offhand comment really isn’t any big deal.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
