Deep Thoughts...

As I was thinking what to write today, I was thinking about those funny poems on SNL called Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy.  Those were funny and brought something to think about that you probably wouldn't of before.  Well, I doubt i will deliver like those did back in the 90's, but here are some thoughts as we go into the start of August and beyond.

1)  Having most, if not all, of our players that are on the team now will be for the rest of the year.  I feel this will help with the development of the team and going into next year with chemistry.

2)  Seeing who will contribute for this team next year in September.  When call-ups happen, we need to see how well our farm system can help provide depth in 2009 by playing in spots we need help in (middle infield, catcher, etc.).

3)  Raise the bar.  Right now we are not in the race, nor should we be.  But we can be spoilers in September this team sucks it up and plays with pride and shows the rest of the major leagues that we will be in there in 2009.

I feel if we can go at least 31-26 (as of July 28th) for the rest of the season and finish with at least a 78-84 record, I will feel we have shown some promise for nect year and hopefully bring that into next year.

Late,

Wazzie

I think it's less about record

and more about what some of the individual players do (theoretically they should go hand in hand). While I do want to see the record continue to trend up, I’m more worried about Gordon’s, Butler’s, Hochevar’s, and Bannister’s performances from here on out.

And now Deep Thoughts. By Jack Handey

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disney Land, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. “Oh, no,” I said, “Disney Land burned down.” He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disney Land, but it was getting pretty late.

If you ever catch on fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the
mirror, because I bet that’s what REALLY throws you into a panic.
