Mahay to the Phillies Rumor

Jayson Stark is reporting on ESPN that the Royals are close to dealing Mahay to the Phillies for Double-A SS Jason Donald.  He is only 24 years old and is a position that the organization needs to fill badly.  By the time we are in contention Mahay might not even be with the team.  I hope this deal gets done and we can just move Donald to the majors immediately with Aviles at 2B, and then maybe we can get a lower-tier prospect for Grudz.

I don't like fanshots

what is the purpose of fanshots? Since we already have diaries they just seem redundant.

Regardless, we should avoid duplication

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

No, I mean we should not create to different posts on exactly the same subject

Fanshots are just a different type of fanpost. Shorter little bits of information which do not warrant a fanpost. At least that is how they should be used. They are good for sharing a link, quote, pic or video clip.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Not hardly.

A fanshot is, ideally, “Here’s a piece of info, and I do not have a ton of my own input to add.”

A fanPOST should contain more personal input.

Or, a fanshot is like a “short paragraph” and a fanpost should be more like an “article.”

Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.

I understand the distinction, but I still do not find them a good addition to SB Nations.

It just forces readers to look in one more spot for information. I prefer blogs that are reader friendly, not overly subdivided.

Yeah

Didn’t look there before i posted…..what do you think of the deal?

We should be able to get two prospects for Mahay.

If it happens … I would put in AAA just to see how he handles that before rushing him into the bigs. We Aviles and Grudz now. Why rush the kid up just so he can fall on his face. Slow down and take a deep breath.

With prospects, quality is more important than quantity

Bringing back a AA prospect who projects as a solid every day player would be a great deal for a reliever like Mahay.

Let's remember that trades that are reported as "close" often don't happen at all

It might happen. Might not. Mahay may be a Philly, a Red Sox or a Royal on August 1.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

True

but i hope this one gets done…..i am not sure if we can do better than that for a 38 year old reliever unless other teams see the Phils are close and up the offer.

by powder blues on Jul 29, 2008 1:59 PM EDT up reply actions

We still don't know what is going on between the Royals and Phils on this

Is a straight Mahay for Donald deal on the table? We don’t know. Do the Royals want more? We don’t know. Do the Phils want more? We don’t know? Did the Royals suggest this and the Phils aren’t very interested, but are willing to negotiate? We don’t know.

This could be like the rumored-but-was-never-on-the-table Dotel for Hu deal last year.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
