Gathwright as 2nd hitter

I guess we can mark that off our list of options. I think he’s best as the #9, where he can’t get us into so much trouble. He’s been awful in the key “gritty” ABs usually reserved for your Gruds type slap hitters.

Royals and fans under siege the past few days. The humor helps.

I want Soria for 2, Alex

Seriously, he has hardly been used on this road trip.

Why screw around? If it’s still a one run game in the bottom of the 8th (and most likely, it will be!), just go straight to Soria, and let tomorrow take care of itself.

TB sure to pinch hit here

so Ram Ram will most likely have to retire 2 lefties.

It would be a shame to get swept in TB without Soria so much as throwing one pitch – but that could easily happen now.

by loyal2sdad on Jul 7, 2008 3:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

and that's why I want him in the rotation.

Seriously, most everybody agrees he is our best overall player – and we may go 4 games against the best team in baseball and NOT USE HIM AT ALL.

by loyal2sdad on Jul 7, 2008 3:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Amen.

Soria translates better to the rotation than anyone else on the staff. The “fooled you” aspects of Bannister with the stuff of Greinke. No reason to waste him pitching every 4 days for one inning when he can go 6-8 every 5.

by Big Guy on Jul 7, 2008 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Neyer was on 810 this morning

And he said that Soria should move the rotation, which was met with an exuberant “WOO-HOO!” from the host (I think Nate Bukaty) because I guess he’s been advocating that all year.

Another Gathright slam

don’t know if seeing it on TV can give you the full appreciation, so next time you are at the game in person, take a good look at how shallow and how close to the line the left fielders have been playing Joey. It’s comical.

If this were slow pitch, they would draw a line in the OF and make the left fielder play behind it for him…

Aviles

may be the most meaningful thing that happened today.

The Royals seemed to be waivering on him already, after just ONE BAD WEEK.

Maybe this buys him some more playing time.

On a related note...

was the TBI (team baby inspector) getting a “day off” or a “day on the bench after assaulting the most popular coach on the team”? I’m hoping it’s the later. No one on this team needs to know we can win without him more than Jose.
