Gathwright as 2nd hitter
I guess we can mark that off our list of options. I think he’s best as the #9, where he can’t get us into so much trouble. He’s been awful in the key “gritty” ABs usually reserved for your Gruds type slap hitters.

I'm adding Gathright

(Actually, he was already on that list)
2 games under .500 for the road trip?
I’ll take that, we should’ve been swept in both series.
Destined for failure.
JP is already a LH RP
Even Jimmy Gobble looked dominant in that role last year. The fact that they’ve already moved him there tells me we didn’t give up much. Didn’t get much either, but that’s another story.
that's on account of their rotation being so stacked
most of his appearances have been for an inning or more—he’s hardly a LOOGY
This space intentionally left blank.

I don't mind Bob Davis
especially compared to Tompkins commercials. I wish I were a commercial contractor in need of rubber hoses, gaskets, and whateverthehells so I could march into a Tompkins office and tell them I’m not buying from them because of those stupid fucking ads.
Also, John Bale should be the new spokesman for Duronautic Doors. (There’s a punch! Gone!)
I have to think
Trey is pretty fed up with Joey’s poor baserunning.

Seriously, he has hardly been used on this road trip.
Why screw around? If it’s still a one run game in the bottom of the 8th (and most likely, it will be!), just go straight to Soria, and let tomorrow take care of itself.
Amen
Let’s worry about having a lead on the White Sox tomorrow night if we’re lucky enough to be in that spot.

TB sure to pinch hit here
so Ram Ram will most likely have to retire 2 lefties.
It would be a shame to get swept in TB without Soria so much as throwing one pitch – but that could easily happen now.
and that's why I want him in the rotation.
Seriously, most everybody agrees he is our best overall player – and we may go 4 games against the best team in baseball and NOT USE HIM AT ALL.
Amen.
Soria translates better to the rotation than anyone else on the staff. The “fooled you” aspects of Bannister with the stuff of Greinke. No reason to waste him pitching every 4 days for one inning when he can go 6-8 every 5.
Neyer was on 810 this morning
And he said that Soria should move the rotation, which was met with an exuberant “WOO-HOO!” from the host (I think Nate Bukaty) because I guess he’s been advocating that all year.

didn't realize
TB’s only LH available to pinch hit was Brignac.
Of course, they could have used Upton for Zobrist.
Glad they didn’t.
I'll say it again
The Royals could sure use an insurance run here (Thanks, Bob)
Who gives a crap
I wouldn’t mind if they sent the wrong man to the plate three times and didn’t even bat. I just can’t care about home bottom-8ths and away top-9ths when the Royals have the lead in a save situation.
The Royals sure could use some insurance here, Ryan

don’t know if seeing it on TV can give you the full appreciation, so next time you are at the game in person, take a good look at how shallow and how close to the line the left fielders have been playing Joey. It’s comical.
If this were slow pitch, they would draw a line in the OF and make the left fielder play behind it for him…

two more singles and he might be able to score
might take a double from third, though. I never believed in “base clogging” until I saw Billy run…
Soria for at least one more inning
especially when you consider who’s left in the pen:
Peralta
Tejeda
Gobble
H Ramirez
Soria for the 10th, then Tejeda for the 11th and 12th.
We need to score soon. Of course, we could have added an insurance run during any of the last 6 innings too…
Well, at least the game's still open
But we seldom score enough runs for nine innings, how the heck do we score enough for 10+? Well, hope springs eternal.
