Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Game 91 Open Thread - White Sox (51-37) at Royals (40-50)

Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals

Kyle Davies (4.71 ERA) makes his eight start of the season tonight, at home, against the division-leading White Sox. As mentioned last week in the Critical Start for Davies post, Hiram's seen an early string of iffy peripherals turn into three consecutive bombed out starts, most recently a 4 IP/7 ER shelling in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, the White Sox counter with Jose Contreras (4.02 ERA). Despite being sixty five years old, Contreras has found himself a solid pitcher again. In his last five starts however, Contreras has posted a 7.71 ERA. He must be smart like Banny to be able to do that.

I saw that

It was your comment about Larussa liking drunks (or something like that) that got flagged and then got you banned.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

yeah...maybe not in the best taste...

but pointing out that a flaw in the guys character wouldnt stop the cards from acquiring him doesnt seem that out of line.

i probably just wasnt very tactful…not too worried though, mostly just like to go read about possible trades involving utility guys for Matt Holliday

by Sean O Se on Jul 8, 2008 9:32 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Rich Harden traded to the Cubs

Not the best destination for hard-throwing, oft-injured young pitchers in recent years, but he should be OK as long as Dusty Baker isn’t headed for Chicago in the deal somehow.

runner on 3rd - no outs

we fail to score – that is inexcusable.

I don't mean to be snotty

but that’s twice in the game thread you’ve basically posted what’s already been posted earlier today in a Fan Shot. ;)

Ha ha, fair enough

I skim Fan Shot fairly regularly, but obviously not thoroughly enough. Oh well, maybe these posts will entertain/engage people with matching Fan Shot blind spots.

Alternate excuse: I was actually first with the 810 shirt breaking news, but it just takes me that long to perform rudimentary HTML exercises.

Runner at 3rd, nobody out

7 pitches later 3 outs and no runs. Ugh

I don't totally blame him, using your bullpen for 4 innings sucks

Especially when we burnt through 2 innings of Mahay / Soria yesterday

yeah, but

Hiram obviously didn’t have it, was wobbling, and the heavy hitters were coming up

I wish the Sox still had Podsednik

It was always nice to see the opposing team send their own Gathright to the plate with runners in scoring position.

Pods DOES have 5 extra-base hits, including a HR this year!

Yeah, I used to think they were the most annoying homers ever

But if you listen to them for aw hile, you can’t help but get into it. “Dadgummit”, “You can put it on the board…YES”, etc. They aren’t afraid to call guys out either. Really entertaining schtick.

There's something DDJ does which scares the hell out of me

He wanders around off base, and he’s looking every which way except where the ball is. He does it all the time.

No, that's different

he gets picked off when he’s paying attention. I’m just waiting, though, for someone to pick him off while he’s staring off into right field while standing near second base.

It’ll be the end of his career.
