Game 91 Open Thread - White Sox (51-37) at Royals (40-50)

Chicago White Sox at Kansas City Royals, Jul 8, 2008 8:10 PM EDT

Kyle Davies (4.71 ERA) makes his eight start of the season tonight, at home, against the division-leading White Sox. As mentioned last week in the Critical Start for Davies post, Hiram's seen an early string of iffy peripherals turn into three consecutive bombed out starts, most recently a 4 IP/7 ER shelling in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, the White Sox counter with Jose Contreras (4.02 ERA). Despite being sixty five years old, Contreras has found himself a solid pitcher again. In his last five starts however, Contreras has posted a 7.71 ERA. He must be smart like Banny to be able to do that.

I saw that

It was your comment about Larussa liking drunks (or something like that) that got flagged and then got you banned.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

yeah...maybe not in the best taste...

but pointing out that a flaw in the guys character wouldnt stop the cards from acquiring him doesnt seem that out of line.

i probably just wasnt very tactful…not too worried though, mostly just like to go read about possible trades involving utility guys for Matt Holliday

and buck calls a better game.

anybody know who’s better at balls in the dirt?

because jefferson davies is throwing a lot.

by Sean O Se on Jul 8, 2008 9:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

that Buck actually teleports around behind the plate to corral wild pitches. I think Olivo may be better at pitches strictly “in the dirt”, but Buck’s lateral movement is just insane.

olivo has stone hands, drops balls that he shouldn't

Rich Harden traded to the Cubs

Not the best destination for hard-throwing, oft-injured young pitchers in recent years, but he should be OK as long as Dusty Baker isn’t headed for Chicago in the deal somehow.
