winning records follow good bullpens
That was a nasty sequence...
1) 93 MPH heater at the knees to open up the AB with a strike
2) 94 MPH heater just below the knees as a chase pitch
3) 96 MPH pitch blown right by AJ. It was clear he put a little something extra on it.
4) Sick 82 MPH curve on the inside of the plate; just a beautiful pitch
I really think we have something here with Tejeda. I think he replaces RamRam, who replaces Nunez, who replaces Soria once Soria moves to the rotation, whenever that happens.
Nobody has questioned his stuff, just his ability to throw strikes
I don’t think ram ram ever becomes a closer, I think he’s going to give up too many walks. Nunez maybe, but does he really have a legit strike out pitch? Eh.
winning records follow good bullpens
I know.
But from what I have seen so far, Tejeda seems to have been able to throw enough strikes to get by in the bullpen.
Before this season, he was never really tried out much in the pen, and his results at the beginning of this season were fairly promising.
As far as RamRam and Nunez go, I think both could be passable closers. Neither as good as Soria, sure, but good enough to make moving Soria to the rotation a net gain that isn’t up to much debate.
I definitely wouldn't be opposed to seeing GMDM do the billy beane thing
ala grabbing promising young arms, letting them close for a season and then trading them once they’re “closers”.

Why didn't we trade for Quentin this offseason again?
I mean, considering the impact Aviles’ little month-long tear has had, imagine if we had Quentin’s 21 HRs added to our lineup in place of, let’s say, Gload’s production.
What about Rosa?
Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but considering our pitching depth, I woulda done it.

Why can’t we do that? Oh right, we’re the Royals. We have Ho-Ram, Gobble and Peralta.
we have Soria, Mahay, Ramirez and Nunez when he's healthy
Which is pretty good… unfortunately everybody is pitching like shit because the starting rotation has been getting shelled and we’ve been playing extra inning games
winning records follow good bullpens
I was wondering the same thing, actually.
I think what really hurts us, besides not having Nunez healthy, is that we had back-to-back extra innings games. Chicago went to extras last night with us, but they were off the day before, so their pen has had an extra day of rest that ours didn’t get.

Here's a reflection of the state of the Royals right now:
Guys on the Royals I am satisfied with:
DDJ
Aviles as a 2B
Buck, perhaps
Greinke
Soria
Mahay
Meche
That’s it. Everyone else is to some extent a disappointment, and for most of them I doubt they’ll be around when the team contends. This last losing streak really bites me. Gordon and Butler are beginning to remind me of Teahen, which makes me doubt the ability of our farm system to develop hitters. And yes, I know I might be overly pessimistic, but I just don’t see the building blocks of a contending team around here. Just spare parts.
lost 9 out of our last 12 now?
Even Greinke is underachieving IMO. He’s been good, but not great – and he needs to be great. Same for Meche, he’s regressed a bit reecently and it’s troubling.
winning records follow good bullpens
To me Meche has been okay recently for an above-average starter.
He was bad earlier in the year, but he has improved the last couple of weeks. For Greinke, I’m not sure whether he really is a #1 yet, so I am not sure about my expectations. Until I figure out where I expect him, I’m not going to get too down on him.
As opposed to someone like Gordon, who we picked in the same draft that Longoria was picked. It burns to see him struggle to hit so much and to see Evan light up the majors.
They just showed a MILF in a tank top and a catholic schoolgirl skirt
I don’t think I can concentrate on the 9th inning now.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
If anyone will let us win this game...
