Game One Billion Overflow Thread

The Royals are down 3-2 in the sixth, and Jo-El has come in to save the day after another "meh" outing by Hiram. Jose Guillen is so clutch that he doesn't even have to shift when he drives a stick.

True. Blue. Tradition.

it doesn't matter who you run out there when you are

ranked 26th in runs scored
24th in SLG
29th in OBP
that is the problem we bicker about Soria starting IF he was as good as Zack which we have no way of knowing then he would be around 9-8 like Zack as opposed to Luke’s 6, Brian’s 7 or Davies 5 how would that make KC better? Even if he was as good as CC is right now he’d probably only have 11 wins is that that much better?

Poor argument

If we can improve the starting rotation, we should. Saying that we should focus solely on the offense is…wrong. This is a bad team. All facets of the game must be improved. If we have a chance to improve our starting rotation at the cost of employing a marginally less effective closer, we have to leap at it.

Anyway I’m so tired of the worrying about suspension bullcrap talk. Here are the facts while I dont think violence in everyday life is needed all that much on a baseball field with grown adults playing a GAME it serves as entertainment. No different than UFC or boxing. I spend a lot of money on this team whether it is for merch, tickets, etc. if they aren’t gonna win the least they can do for me is entertain me.

They aren’t splitting the atom anytime soon so when they are getting dirt rubbed in their face I expect them to hurt their hated rival, is it intelligent? No but this is hardly a intelligent game.

Dude, that's the reason he WILL succeed

He doesn’t rely on velocity, and it will probably stay 89-91. His slow curveball is plus, his faster curveball is plus, his changeup is plus, and his slider is plus. He has 4 excellent pitches, with plus plus control. You are making him sound like he only has two pitches. That’s just wrong.

It's all my fault

on some other thread earlier this week, I posted something about our HR ratio being much better on the road than at home. We had been outhomered by only 10 on the road, but 20 at home.

Since then, we have been outhomered by 6 more this series.

Sox are damn near double our HR total for the season now, and head to head, we have been outhomered by them 27 to 14 as well. That’s unbelievable – we’ve hit 14 in 15 games against them, which is way above our avg, yet they have STILL doubled us.

Why not?

He’s the only player on this team that consistently meets or exceeds even the highest expectations put on him. Yet, we’ve only seen him play for 3 innings in the last 2 weeks. By comparison, Kyle Davies has pitched 12.2 innings (ERA ~6.75) and Bannister has pitched 11 innings (ERA 5.72). Neither has gone long enough or given up few enough runs to give us a chance to win this month.

So yeah, it makes sense to talk about how Soria is (or is not) being used).

No it's my fault

After the Royals won game 1 of the Boston series, I posted on two (2!) message boards how I thought this team might just be coming together, and I could start to see the nucleus of a good team forming.

I immediately realized my mistake, and tried to apologize to the baseball gods. But the damage was done. We’ve lost 7 of 8 since then.

After 2 losses I made a bet (even money) with a buddy that the Royals would lose 4 out of 5, trying to break the jinx. No luck. I just collected on that bet and started a new one. I predict I collect 2 more times at least.
