Sexson waived...again

"But the dramatic holes in the first baseman's swing made him too easy an out."

2 teams think he's crap now...is there anybody who still thinks we should sign him?

Melky demoted too

I’d imagine he’ll be trade bait this winter.

for Brian Bannister!!!!!!!!!!!111

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Maybe we can buy low on Melky and Francouer (Braves).

With they’re struggles they may come cheap. A change of scenery may do them good.

Not a terrible idea

I’m not that wild about either due to a lack of plate discipline, but so long as it didn’t take too much to get them, I’d be for getting young, high upside guys with diminished market value.

I'm not against it

I just don’t see Melky as a high upside guy. I wouldn’t give up much for him.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Aug 15, 2008 3:57 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You could add

Ryan Garko to that wishlist of “high upside guys with diminished market value.”

by lordbyronk on Aug 15, 2008 5:03 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ryan Garko has a high upside?

OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

by devil_fingers on Aug 15, 2008 5:05 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Maybe not high upside

but someone who has some power, who could be had relatively cheaply.

by lordbyronk on Aug 15, 2008 5:09 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What would you give up for him?

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Aug 15, 2008 5:11 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

not sure

Cleveland needs relief pitching in a bad way. Maybe a reliever and a fringe prospect?

by lordbyronk on Aug 15, 2008 5:26 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Do you mean a real reliever with a future?

Like Nunez or R.Ramirez? If so, I say no thanks. The scouts have never liked his tools and his numbers took a massive nosedive this season. I have no idea if he’d revert back to his 2006/07 hitting, something more like 2008 or somewhere in between. He’s risky.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Aug 15, 2008 5:31 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I was thinking

more along the lines of a Peralta type. I don’t think I’d break up the back end of the bullpen unless it were a hell of a deal. Peralta/Lubanski?

by lordbyronk on Aug 15, 2008 5:35 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat

I doubt the Indians would.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Let’s give him so more time to cycle off the HGH and ’roids that aided him. That seems to be a big trend lately. It took Giambi several years to get back to normal.

Don't forget to send your broken maples to the US Forest Service.

by 306008 on Aug 16, 2008 9:48 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

let me add to that

some guys are natural players that were aided who have the ability to pick back up production quickly…. Giambi even though he isn’t completely back.

some guys are fringe AAA players who need help… a lot of guys.

Garko may be one of those guys…. what about Hafner?

Just be careful. Signs say that some guys get it back, others don’t.

Jason Giambi's long road back

2003: 148 OPS+
2004: 90 OPS +
2005: 161 OPS+

I think you know

that I would probably kill someone to get Gload off this team.

That's comparing apples or oranges

I mean, we’d all kill someone to get Gload off the team. But who would you kill?

I’m sure most of us would kill Brett Favre , Carrot Top, or Jimmy Fallon (that’s a call too close to make).

But would you kill Moon Unit Zappa? Will Farrell? Jenna Fischer?

OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

I would definitely kill Will Farrell

or someone equivalent to him (not really funny anymore, coasting on early success).

I would sooner destroy a stainglass window than an artist such as Jenna (bonus points if you get this reference).

Bonus points for you

Saying “Jenna Fischer” and “Princess Bride” in the same sentence may cause your face to melt from the resulting awesomeness. AAAAAIIIIIIIIIYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEE

Well, I'm not that awesome

I have seen the Princess Bride (in the theater, no less), and I liked it. But I never was a “loving it, quoting it like nerds do with Monty Python and the Holy Grail” kind of guy. I didn’t remember the line. I googled it.

It's funny, I find either people

really like that movie or just don’t the reference at all.

Everyone should like Jenna Fischer

and The Princess Bride.

by NHZ on Aug 17, 2008 7:39 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wait, I missed this

Are we talking about the same Richie Sexson that some people insinuated GMDM was “an idiot” for not pursuing because obviously if the Yankees were interested it was worth a gamble?

Just checking.

Sarcasmâ„¢. It's the new gravy.
