No Sept. call up for Kila?
In Dick Kaegel's mailbag he says a Sept. call up is a long shot for Kila. Surely they'll give him a shot won't they? Also got a chuckle out of the last question/answer. Hopefully Dick is off base here.

HE might not
But Kaegel flat out sucks. I wouldn’t trust a word he says.

yah i don't see how they wouldn't call him up if he is still raking through the end of august..
i mean he could end up with like 12 home runs, 20+ RBIs, .300+ avg, .400+ OBP, by the time september rolls around.. doesn’t that mean that level is too easy for him? I know everyone needs “development” time.. but butler and gordon definitly didnt need that much..
It is a long shot
the kid was in AA all year for cryin’ out loud, and the 40-man would need a shuffling before we can bring him to KC. It’s not unheard of, but it’s not the usual profile of a September call-up.

You know
I’d have to somewhat agree with Kaegal on this. I’d much rather give Shealy a september call-up if I could only pick one to call up. Shealy has a lot less time than Kila and it’s about time if we see if Shealy has anything left or not. Kila’s got time, I’d love a September call-up too, but I think we are getting ahead of ourselves, let’s let him finish the year up nicely and then see what we’ve got in Spring Training.

I posted on here...
A month ago that Dayton Moore, in an interview with Soren Petro said a Call up for him was unlikely.
At the very worst
They should call him up and sit him on the MLB bench as a reward for an outstanding minor league season. We have room on the 40 man roster, and we need to add him anyway unless we want to risk losing him as a minor league FA (or the Rule 5)

Not to be too critical
but we should burn his service time as a reward?
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
+1.
If we call him up in September, we would have to wait until Juneish (I think) before calling him up for next year for him not to qualify as a Super-Two in 2010.
But if we don’t call him up, we can call him up if he rakes again to start out the AAA season, and still have control over him through 2015.
+2
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I don't see it as that big a deal
On the off chance Kila does turn out to be something special, I don’t think a few weeks of service time this year will matter much since I think he’ll probably spend most of the first half of next year in Omaha.

I don't think it is a big deal either way
I think the benefit to Kila from calling him up is very small. And the cost to the organization would probably be small as well. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

i thought he was a 6 year free agent type
there were rumblings of that sort around here lately
This space intentionally left blank.
If we add him to the 40 man roster
I believe that keeps him from being a minor league FA, but I could be wrong.

You are correct, sir
Either put him on the 40-man roster or sign him to a minor league contract. Undoubtedly they will do the former.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
