Game 125 Open Thread - Royals at Indians

Kansas City Royals @ Cleveland Indians

The battle for fourth place continues tonight in Cleveland. Sorta ironic timing for this series, as I spent most of the summer in Cleveland and got married there on the 16th.

Unfortunately, the Royals just missed me, or me them...

The Royals are 4-4 against the Tribe in 2008.

Love MLB.tv. I usually can’t watch games live because of my work schedule, so it acts as a Tivo for me. Can’t speak to the Windows experience, but the performance is rock solid for Linux users.

Hosmer to Idaho Falls this weekend...

Hosmer’s debut

Want an idea of how advanced the Royals see first baseman Eric Hosmer, the 18-year-old selected with the third overall pick in the June draft?

Hosmer will bypass the Arizona Rookie League and begin his professional career Saturday at Idaho Falls. Such a jump is unusual for a high-school player, but the Royals did the same thing last year with infielder Mike Moustakas.

Hosmer is in game shape from a summer spent with the Midland (Ohio) Redskins, an amateur team for 16-18 year-olds in the Connie Mack League.

A good team sees the pitcher's approach in the first inning

and figures out how to beat him early. That’s why Luke struggled the second. Indians coaches said, hey, he’s a sinkerballer, you beat him hitting it the other way. He’s leaving it up for us we just have to hit it… what’d they Indians do? Started going the other way…

I don't know why, but this year's team is pissing me off more and more.

Maybe I’ve just became more of a fan this year because I can watch them almost all of the time. But games like tonight make me question my loyalty. I’m from the KC area, I love Kaufman, and I love their uniforms. I’m a little too young to remember the 80’s. I was born in 82. But I do know I grew up thinking George Brett could walk on water. I want to be around when they become good. But FUCK, that looks like a long road.

Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?

Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or… learn from it.

That was a good productive AB. It took 90% of the DP possibilities AWAY from Guillen while providing him a chance to get an RBI. Not a terrible AB. Tried to pull it on the ground, did his job.

Yeah, we know Teahen isn't very good

and that Moore will have to look to upgrade at the corners soon. Until then, oh well. At least he’s not Guillen.

I prefer Guillen

I’ll take the one hot streak over Teahen plus I know eventually probably next year he’ll regain form. As for teahen he is nothing but a broken promise of what was to be.

Very poetic

I meant at least he wasn’t a big fat jerk who “played” through an obvious injury.

But obviously, neither one’s very good. At least we aren’t paying Teahen 24 mil over the next two years.

I have a lot more confidence in Luke for next year.

Early KC gave him no run support and he thought he had to be perfect. He has pitched halfway decent lately been victim to some bad defense.

Ages..

Put these three in youngest to oldest:
Ryan Howard, Albert Pujols and Dan Uggla

by KCctrell85 on Aug 19, 2008 9:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Answer

Uggla (03/11/80)
Pujols (01/16/80)
Howard (11/19/79)

Doesn’t it just seem like Pujols is MUCH older and that Uggla should be a lot younger than the other two?
