Around SBN: Holy War Week Brings out the Worst in Fans

Google Reader still shows the intro to Kevin Murphy's latest creation.
"It's all over the sports talk radio and in The Star on-line: What to do about Brian Bannister, who has been simply terrible. His ERA was 7.25 in July and is 12.75 in August. OK, so there is nobody waiting in the wings in Omaha to replace him. But just about anybody may be better than Bannister for a few starts - if for symbolic reasons alone. Dumping Bannister from the rotation or sending him down would send a message to fans that the team does not accept such abysmal pitching..."

That's all we have of it, along with the Google nub linked in the post title. Does anyone out there have the rest of this masterpiece of an article? Does "Fan's Eye" run in the dead-tree version of the Star (God help us if it does)? I'm curious to see what other words Murphy has graced the world with. I didn't know what other avenue to pursue; can any of you help?

That really was a masterpiece (yikes!)

I think personnel moves should be based on sending messages to the fans. And since Maier has gotten his share of singles for a while here, I think the Royals should start him everyday to send another message to the fans that the Royals reward short-term singles-only hitting. Hey, as long as some element of the fanbase is placated a bit for a little while, then that’s what’s really important.

The Star actually paid someone to write this drivel?

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I would hope that the paper that has produced so many great writers

is not actually paying this guy. I would guess they are just “allowing” him, as a lay fan/outsider, to voice his opinion on the website. I don’t remember seeing his stuff on paper, but I don’t read the Star everyday.

We always did feel the same, We just saw it from a different point of view, Tangled up in blue.

What a joke

I like this one too:

Big trades were few — again

Two marquee names changed teams today with Manny Ramirez and Ken Griffey Jr. switching leagues. But that was about it and once again trade deadline day did not live up to its hype. This is doubly disappointing for fans like me — who closely follow real-life teams and also own a fantasy team. It’s always interesting when a lot of star players change teams, but it seldom happens.

If you have access to a Johnson County or KCMO public library account

You can access all Star pieces online. I found the article in question, but I don’t think we’re allowed to reprint it in full.
