Umps Boycott Replay Conference
This whole replay thing is really turning into a debacle. There is no question that replay does make some sense, but why now, after some 140 years without it, do they feel the urgent need to have it installed right in the middle of this season? Why can't they spend the rest of the season/offseason working out the details, and have it installed by opening day next year.? That way they can work out the kinks early in the season without the potential for affecting teams in a pennant race.

It does seem weird that they want to start this at midseason
Typically they at least start these things in spring training so everyone can get used to it and hopefully work the kinks out of the system. But, as much as I often feel for the umps, they have been and will continue to be against every bit of technology to evaluate and improve their performance. They fought Questec. They are fighting instant replay. They’ll fight electronic ball/strike calls eventually. That’s fine. If they want to stand in the way of improving the game, they can. But if they don’t go along with these improvements, then they’re out. Any ump that doesn’t want to be a part of an improved system can retire now, or be fired. Umpires not interested in more accuracy in their calls should be looking for a new line of work. I would have no problem with another mass firing of umpires. There are many minor league umps who I’m sure would be willing to work within whatever system MLB set up.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
