About something that I thought about last offseason....
Anyone remember last season, in Buddy Bells lack of infinite wisdom, when he was shuffling players around the diamond, and Alex Gordon wound up at 1B for more than a few games? As I recall, he looked good defensively, and he always seemed to hit better in those games also...
After last season, I was playing golf in the Steve Young/Jerry Rice golf classic in San Jose, CA, and Brian Bannister was playing in it too, and I talked to him for a good 1/2 hour about things, and I brought up to him, my thoughts, of what I would do w/ the (as they were kind of thought of then) the big 3.
Teahen - 3B, Gordon - 1B, Butler - DH
Sign a big stick to play LF or RF, and put Teahen back where he is most comfortable, and Gordon where he looked most comfortable at times last season.
Well, Banny said that it had been discussed, but not thought about seriously, b/c Billy was going to get a good shot at 1B.
Well, it's been 40 or so games w/ G-Load @ 1B w/ Bam Bam (that nickname has to stick) DH'ing nearly every night. Now AG is on the shelf, and Teabag is back at 3B. Is this something they could explore if (I doubt this next part) Teabag gets his head out of his ass and figures out how to hit again?
A slight programming note. At the time, Teahen was "on the verge" of breaking out, something that I don't see happening at this point, so this isn't my #1 plan for the future. If we are unable to sign a 1B, or Kila/Shealy isn't in KC next Spring, do you think they'll look at this? Especially if they DO -fuck up- sign Dunn/Burrell
