Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Sets Assist High In Easy Win Over Sacramento

Some of Royals Reviews favorite discussion pieces discussed here. I was surprised to see that they think Furcal will be hard pressed to get 3/39 again. Hmmm...

In RR mancrush news: "O-Dog has posted an OPS+ of greater than 100 for each of the past three campaigns. Only three other second sackers can make that claim: Ian Kinsler, Dan Uggla, and Chase Utley."

I see us

Making a serious run at Alex Cora, maybe Kevin Millar. Nick Punto is probably out of the question.

Alex Cora

My god I hope not. That would be a waste. If they go out and get a middle IFer, then it should at least be a genuine upgrade (like Furcal or Hudson). But to bring in someone like Alex Cora to take AB’s from Callaspo or Aviles would be really stupid. That is, unless he just replaces TPJ and is relegated to a minimal reserve role. And Millar might not be a horrible idea for a one-year stopgap at 1B.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Why not Shealy?

I remember the Royals reluctance to give Aviles a chance, and he has paid dividends.

If the Royals aren’t going to sign a superstar 1B, I’d rather see Shealy than another stopgap type.

Why not Shealy?

Because I expect him to hit .250/.300/.400. There are a lot of stopgaps which would be a hell of a lot better than that.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

you might want to revisit that he is not tearing it up like Aviles

His ops is only .030 less then Aviles in July and August.

Go Royals!

Let me clearify that

Shealy has had an ops of about .970 in July and August, that is tearing it up pretty good.

Go Royals!

Olivo didn't make the list?

The Royals haven’t exercised his option, have they?

Olivo will be one day short of service time to qualify as a six-year major league free agent

One of the great mysteries of the upcoming offseason is whether his contract includes a clause preventing the Royals from offering him arbitration, thereby making him a free agent if the Royals decline the option or Olivo voids the option.

One of the great mysteries of life, really

Royals, NBA, Golden Hurricane, Hawkeyes, Chiefs, and KU basketball, in that order.
