Wow, given the available players this lineup makes sense.

Aviles is fine at the top against lefties. Buck hits lefties better than Gload (a lot better, and sitting him against them partially accounts for his decline in hitting this year). But him at catacher, DH Olivo, Billy at first. German should be starting every game against lefties the rest of the season.

A modest proposal

The “calorie” you see on labels actually refers to kilocalories. I say we start enforcing proper use of the term “calorie.” Thus,

Baconator = 840,000 calories
BK Triple Whopper with Cheese = 1.25 million calories

That sounds way fatter and scarier and maybe people would eat them less.

… but I wouldn’t eat them less. They’re too delicious.

Olivo: flails helpless at several changeups, before popping up a fastball right down the middle

Gload: Fouls off a pitch down the middle, takes a borderline strikes, reaches out and makes weak contact.

Because the team scoring the run didn't "earn" it.

It’s a screwy fabrication, insofar as the only purpose behind “unearned runs” is to judge the pitcher, but the definition of an “unearned run” is essentially one the offense scores as a result of an error. That the pitcher committed it is irrelevant to the definition.

we’ve pretty much given back all of the gains we had mad during the year. i’m sorry, there is just absolutely no excuse for Bannister’s plays. That is a loser play right there. there is no talent involved with that play, simply focus, concentration and a little bit of mental toughness. absolutely pathetic.

we get it that we’re not talented enough to compete for a division title, but you can still play fundamentally no matter how poor your talent is.

Every time I think Bowden's going to make it off the Colletti list, he sneaks back on

He’s got the touch of death — Austin Kearns, for example

I’m pretty sure the Royals could get WIly Mo for JoGui, at this point

Gordon, Banni, Meche, Callaspo, Aviles, Grienke, DDJ, Soria, Ram Ram, Bam Bam, Hochevar, Nunez, anyone else?

Don't forget to send your broken maples to the US Forest Service.

do you think

they can turn over that much of the roster in one year? I could see like 10 new players MAYBE but to get 19-20 new guys? I know you’re exaggerating but I think it would take at least three years to really get the thing turned over proper…

I’d keep:
DeJesus
Callaspo
Aviles
Butler
Gordon
Meche
Greinke
Soria
Ram Ram
Mahay
Hochevar
Nunez

for sure, and we’d probably end up keeping Gload, German and one of Bannister or Davies. That leaves 9-10 spots to fill. That’s a lot of turnover.

I hereby resign from this post.

I think of those last 4

Gload’s the only definitely worthless one> Banni’s been horrible since April or May. But he’s cheap, and I still think can be back of the rotatoin innings eater at least until minors guys are ready.

Davis has the profile of a guy who could be successful in the pen.

German might be crowded out, but despite the Royals misuse of him this year, is a very useful bench player who can start for stretches.

Using my awesome powers of comprehending the underlying message

I’d say “Kila at 1B, Gload in LF” was the speculation.
