Is Maier really that hard to pronounce?
"Mitch May-er"... I think I've heard that 12 times in the last two weeks. FSN, ESPN, MLB.com; all guilty of screwing up Mitch's name.
"Joe-Kim" Soria is another common one. How many games below/above .500 do we need to be before people start pronouncing our player's names correctly?
God help us if Kila Kaaihue is ever called up to the big leagues.
I guess Jason Smith has nothing to worry about, though.

The weird thing about Kila
I’m pretty sure that the traditional Hawaiian pronunciation of his name is:
Kah-ah-ee-oo-ay
...because they pronounce each of those vowels separately. But in the youtube clips I’ve seen, I’ve heard the NWA and Omaha announcers both pronounce it:
Ky-uh-hoo-ee
That has to be an Americanized version of the original Hawaiian name.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
I'm just gonna call him "Punch"
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
