Game 115 Open Thread - Red Sox (65-49) at Royals (53-61)
Boston Red Sox at Kansas City Royals, Aug 6, 2008 8:10 PM EDT
Your pitching matchup is Wakefield v. Hochevar:
I'm not sure if a knuckleballer exactly equals a "finesse pitcher", but according to the numbers on Baseball Reference, the Royals have posted their lowest team OPS against pitchers of that sort.
(The overflow thread is auto-scheduled for 9 Central, just in case I'm not around.)

I Hate Tim Wakefield
In my MLB The Show 08 PS3 Game I’m on career mode with the Royals and my management traded Grienke for friggin’ Wakefield as soon as I started my career. I hate Tim Wakefield.
Brian McCrae
just said on pregame that he thought Mark Teahen would be our best centerfield option….interesting.

He said that he saw him work in spring training and he liked the way he looked, he also gave props to Maier, DDJ too but his first answer was Teahen….who knows if he was saying it to say something outside the box or what.

great advice from frank white on hitting the knuckler
NOT. duh you want to wait to the last second to hit it. i’ll say it….if it’s high, let it fly; if it’s low let it go. if you don’t follow this it’s a long night….also, working the count also is a very effective way to wait out a knuckleballer….umps, like hitters, often don’t get a good look at it. and often that last move takes it out of the zone, which is confusing.

I know Bannister seemed to have that problem, and Luke definitely seems to throw more balls and do worse when he has runners on. He’s really streaky that way.
He definately doesn’t repeat his delivery as well out of the stretch… I think he needs to go to the 4-seem first pitch out of the stretch…. then go to that devastating 2 seemer… we tend to go to something good and overuse it until it’s not that good anymore…. the power change… the sinker….
