Game 148 Open Thread - Royals (63-84) at Indians (72-75)
Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians, Sep 13, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
Your second game matchup is Robinson Tejeda (4.19 ERA) versus Bryan Bullington (5.89 ERA). Thanks to a effective effort from Greinke and two sneaky innings from Leo Nunez, the Royals are in a strong position to take the second game as well.
I cried tears of joy as I saw Mitch Maier return to the lineup earlier today...

It could happen
I’d say 40% chance of that happening with a 80% chance of Gload being in the lineup (either 1B or LF).
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I don't think anyone knows yet
Last I heard, it is still a definite maybe.

No Kila, But
Shealy instead and Olivo batting cleanup against a RHP. Oh, and of course TPJ, just because.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
Obviously
we need to changeup our look from the SS position.
Accidentally not thedude925 anymore. I do hate this new name.
Playing somebody different will make it interesting to fans who have gotten bored
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Did Game 1 wear us out?
Or has the dark power of college football lured everyone away?
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
I Have CFL
On one of the satellite channels. I watched Michael Bishop play some last year. It’s a different game, eh?

I think that was my second post in a GameThread since April..
,..and right after I make it, my computer’s hard drive crashes. Reminds me to confess that this whole season is my fault — the Royals were looking good until I went to see them in Oakland.
Yes, the CFL is a different game.
I'm At Work
And somehow I wound up listening to the rain delay from the first game again. I thought it was raining again.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
Who Are These
XBH monsters impersonating our plucky Royals.

I think it's frightening that there's been exactly two comments
in between Teahen homers.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
That first teahen homer was destroyed
second wasn’t bad either
this must be his late season push to stay ont he roster
realistically speaking
He Turns It
Off and on at will.

He'll hit 5 more in the next 4 games to get up to 20
realistically speaking
That's Really Cheese
Me off. I bet he’ll get his OBP up to .350 too, the bastard.

I was thinking today, Mike Aviles is like our less good version of Dustin Pedroia
He just needs to walk more

And Take The
Stairs.

This Indians broadcaster guy
says “Ki-Ass-Poo” one more time, I’m gonna snap.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Some announcers put a "w" in there
Kah-wasp-oh

Teahen!
I had to come on here and post on the game where T-bag hits two dingers. Anyone see if they were pretty good shots? Or kinda BS?
by I need more Esteban on Sep 13, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions
the first one had to be at least 410 feet
realistically speaking
he seems to do that quite a bit
would like to see him pull some homers, oh well, beggers can’t be choosers.
by I need more Esteban on Sep 13, 2008 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah turned on a high pitch and hammered it to RF

by Scott McKinney on Sep 13, 2008 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions
great to hear
hopefully he can keep this up the rest of the year and get some confidence going into next season, who knows if that would even matter, though.
by I need more Esteban on Sep 13, 2008 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions
considering how abysmal his season has been
he doesn’t have to do much to finish on a high note
realistically speaking
I think abysmal might be a bit harsh
but your point is made, he’s definitely had a disappointing year.

He probably read the "love me non-tender" thread and was surprised that some fans want him released
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I missed the first one
but he got a hold of the second one pretty good. Indians guys said “Oh no” the second he hit it.

So weird that Tejada can't throw strikes as a starter
he was doing a good job of it out of the pen
realistically speaking
Seems like he's had control problems with the Royals
5.23 BB/9

by Scott McKinney on Sep 13, 2008 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions
To be fair, in 23 appearances since joining the Royals...
He’s walked nobody in 15 of him.
realistically speaking
And that means he's walked a hell of a lot of guys in the other 8 appearances
more than 5 walks per 9 is awful
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
by Scott McKinney on Sep 13, 2008 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, again, to be fair...
In 32 IP for the Royals he has a .98 WHIP with 38K’s. Can he keep up a hit rate that low? Probably not, but he’s dramatically improved his K numbers out of our bullpen…
realistically speaking
And he's looked a damn sight better than Kyle Davies today
Not that that’s saying much
realistically speaking
I'm not saying he's a bad pitcher
I’m saying he’s got poor control and often has trouble finding the strike zone.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

It would be a little strange
If two teams really liked eachother?
Go Royals!
Sounds like Ranny
Likes the all the Royals starters
Go Royals!
The rotation is fine
Two very good pitchers, a decent 3 and 4 with more than enough options for #5. As Rany pointed out very well, it is not an area of need now or for the foreseeable future.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

WTF
I’m gone for half of one game and KC turns into a bunch of mashers
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.

We here at Royals Review have way too much influence on this team

I just can't stand USC anymore they are too good
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.
anyone see Callaspo's triple, was it a misplay?
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.
Do we get Shealy and Butler without Guillen tomorrow
seems logical to give JoGui the day off tomorrow after playing back to back tonight
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.
Where does TPJ's season rank in the history books?
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird.
After running three steps out of the box, slowing down, taking off his helmet
and watching his epic fly-out? Worst ever.
I’d have laughed if that had somehow fallen in.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
So basically he is a Gload clone
that can play centerfield, so why do we have Gload?
Go Royals!
I wish he as a Gload BA and Gathright Speed clone
then he would be useful
Go Royals!
Aviles scores. Again.
Why does it feel like he’s scored 200 runs this year?
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Yay! We Just

The opposite field home run was impressive, but at least two of the singles have been looping liners. Still, 7 total bases from the first baseman is definitely a red-letter day for KC.
Looping liners are an improvement over Gload's soft ground outs to pitcher, second or first
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

September call up
Once a pretty good prospect who struggled in the minors for a little while before turning it on this year at AA and AAA. Can get some good K’s with his fastball-slider combination.

I had a Devon (pronounced Devin) in class last year; I remembered Devon White and mispronounced it on the first day of school.
