Game 149 Open Thread - Royals (64-84) at Indians (72-76)
Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians, Sep 14, 2008 1:05 PM EDT
Like a beautiful pelican soaring above the flooded coastal waters of Texas, the Royals look to rise ever higher this afternoon against the Indians.
Those Indians, they thought a doubleheader sweep would propel them back to .500 for the first time since 22-22. Ha! What did they know?
Your pitching matchup is Brian Bannister (5.81 ERA) versus Jeremy Sowers (5.60 ERA). The over/under on how often the phrases "needs to keep the ball down", "doesn't overpower you" and "let the defense make plays behind him" will be heard during today's game is 312.5.

Wow, with Guillen in LF and Butler DHing this would be a good lineup. Germie’s OK at the plate, but I hate him in LF. BamBam and the Kahuna are available to PR, so there’s that.

It's time to fire Bob McClure.
1) Our pitchers refuse to throw strike three after being up 0-2. He’s obviously not chewing them out for this.
2) The only thing I can think of that he’s “done” was teach a curveball to someone who desperately needed it, but Tomko failed anyway.
3) He reminds me of Darrell Porter.
