Game 150 Open Thread - Mariners (57-91) at Royals (65-84)
Seattle Mariners at Kansas City Royals, Sep 15, 2008 8:10 PM EDT
The Battle for Grass Creek resumes tonight in Kansas City, with the Royals looking to building on a 3-2 season series lead. How close has the Battle been? The Royals have scored 22 runs, the Mariners, 21.
I would expect nothing less from Baseball's Greatest Rivarly.
This may be the best lineup the Royals have fielded this season, depending on how you come down on the Buck/Olivo question.
The pitching matchup is Carlos Silva against Hiram. Silva's ERA is 6.53.
I'm looking forward to hitting the game thread sometime around the third inning with a glass of campari next to my computer...

Definitely the best lineup of the year

Why did Hillman say this:
"I’m going to try to keep Shealy and KK both going there," manager Trey Hillman said. "Basically, it will be a platoon unless there is something unforeseen with an injury."
I have no problem with Kila getting limited playing time. But why say there will be a Kila/Shealy platoon and then not do it?
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
He pinch hit, so apparently not

But there’s been no word about him being injured. He pinch ran for him because he’s slow as Christmas.

He might be faster than Butler
But still very slow. He’s a big, lumbering guy. Good for power hitting, but runs about as well as most power hitters.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Instead of the hotdog race
We could have Bulter, Shealy and Kila race.
Go Royals!
When I saw Shealy rounding third base yesterday, trying to score
…I said to myself, “Why is he jogging?” Then I realized he wasn’t. I think he’s probably the slowest guy on the team.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

the platoon is that Shealy plays almost every day, Gloadie plays the rest
of the days, and Kila will play the platoon when monkeys fly out of GMDM’s butt.

But he’s actually made a lot of progress this year. He’s OPSing aroundf .860 against righties. If you look, he’s been better each half of each season. His main problem this year is a complete lack of power against lefties, which looks fluky even for him.
