Shealy starts at first against leftys and Kila starts at first against rightys…

unfortunately all four of the A’s starters are leftys… Braden, Eveland, Smith, Gonzalez

so dont look for kila in this series (tear, tear).. unless he pinch hits

Shealy will get his chance first

and that makes some sense. The Royals need to see if he can transfer the success he’s had at AAA this year to the ML and Kaaihue is still very much a prospect with only one break out season under his belt. Also, Shealy is out of options, if he doesn’t get it done this month, I would imagine he’ll be gone (no pressure) so I bet GMDM will have Trey give Shealy as many PA’s as possible.

That being said, I would LOVE to see Kaaihue get as many PAs as possible to get a better evaluation of his potential. Saw some ramblings about if the Royals would consider moving him to a corner OF position today…thoughts?

I do know that a lot of PAs would open up if we would sit IchiGload or move him to OF when Guillen needs a rest.

I haven’t seen anything to think that this year will be any different, though I will amend that by saying Dayton Moore’s poignant comments in the paper may offer a sign of lineup changes…

Nope, it's just Jirschele desperately filling in gaps

that injuries have left. Shane Costa has been hurt since forever, we no longer have Maier around, Stodolka hurt his hand like a month ago, apparently Chris Lubanski is having some vision problems (he had LASIK last season and is having issues with that, according to the ORoyals radio broadcast yesterday), so the OF roster is a little thin. Pena has played both left and right field, in addition to third base, first base, DH, and of course, catcher.

Pena’s actual play in the outfield kept making Mark Nassar giggle on the air, so I don’t think he’s a valuable defensive fill-in, but rather one who is used out of dire necessity. He’s not bad at 3rd though, oddly enough.

Did anyone read Mellinger's Ball Star today?

Hillman still has to worry about wins and losses in deciding whether to play Shealy or Kila? Are wins and losses more important than seeing if these guys can hit in the future?

+1 With Oakland coming to town with 3 LH SP KC has a nice opportunity to get Shealy in the lineup and maybe even play Kila against one lefty since the league doesn’t know his weaknesses yet. IMO I wouldn’t sit Butler until he cools down at all (7gm hit streak .464BA .786 SLG)

That’s why normal people refer to schools by the town the school is in.

Kirksville, Maryville, Rolla, Joplin, Warrensburg

Ok, this is where I hate Olivo's game calling.

Fastball worked fine through 4 innings – now it’s 50% offspeed crap. Ahead of the last two batters, and he’s worked the count full going out of the zone with offspeed pitches. Very frustrating to watch.
