Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Kyle Davies has done something no other Royals pitcher has ever done

When was the last time a Royals pitcher won three consecutive starts (in any number of innings) and allowed no more than 4 hits and 2 walks in each start?

Try never.

That's actually pretty impressive. I don't know how meaningful it is, but damned impressive. And Davies really has improved as his major league season has progressed. It really looks like he's been a different pitcher in September than he was in June, July and August. I hope we see more of the former next year.

davies = meche?

hopefully. seems like his upside if he can keep it going. occasionally erratic, fastball low-mid 90’s, good and at times knee buckling curve, good change.

IF Davies has his curve working, and that's a big IF

It’s not a bad comparison, though I think the difference in stuff is that Meche has a better fastball and Davies has a better change. Meche is also more of a proven commodity. LIke Rany, I’m still skeptical that a 3 game sample means that Davies has turned a corner, but at the very least he’s looking like a good #5 starter option. If he maintains this type of control and stuff you’re talking about a solid #3, which is very valuable.

Looking for a new team.

there's a post on MVN

http://mvn.com/mlb-royals/

that talks about how he decided to challenge hitters over the plate (what else are you going to do?) in his last three starts.
