Any Interest in a RR Book Club?
I'll have to think more about how to do this, but does anyone have any interest in a RR book club? Maybe once a month this offseason or something we have a big thread/fanpost/story etc about a baseball book? Thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea.
I might not go buy all the books… but I’ll participate!

I'd like too as well
my time to read books of my choosing is rather limited (HS English teacher), but I would try to participate if such a program were started.

I'd be interested
Royals, NBA, Golden Hurricane, Hawkeyes, Chiefs, and KU basketball, in that order.

i am thinking mostly stuff that can be purchased really cheap on Amazon
random royals books and “as told to” type stuff… maybe a few baseball classics as well

Not a bad idea. Probably have to keep them sort.
I haven’t read a lot of books.
I’d love to read Ball Four. Obviously, we’d have to read The Soul of Baseball. (Seriously, I want to read it).
Scouts Honor would be enjoyable on about 73 different levels.
I’d like to read The Politics of Glory as well, if it’s still available.
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

Well, it's not cheap, but it's related to a Royal Legend

I'm interested
Although my time is a bit limited now. Are we limiting to baseball books, or all books? I’ve been wanting to read “Ball Four” forever now.

I started to read Ball Four and was a little disappointed
Much of the hype about the book was its scandalous nature – at the time, it was pretty shocking information…now, none of it seems like that big of a deal. Players cheat on their wives on the road? Drink heavily? NOOOO!

i agree on ball four...just really not all that good...
i read canseco’s book and all about all the steroids and stuff…so players boozing, cheating on their wives and taking greenies just doesnt shock me. i read harvard boys recently…that was a pretty good one.

I'm in.
And I second the vote for The Soul of Baseball. I’d happily read it all over again.
I know this might sound silly, but what about Moneyball? I’ve been re-reading bits of it at a time, examining each of the players mentioned, and where they are now, and where the people drafted behind them ended up.

+2 I'd read 'em both again.
Poz, is just flat out a good writer…cannot wait for the Reds book.

I'm excited for the Reds book too.
Last I heard from JoePo, the publisher gave him an October deadline for the first draft. That was set before he knew he’d be going to Beijing, but still. It won’t be too much longer.

Lets Do it.......
Screw the baseball theme……lets open the hood on James Joyce’s Ulysseus. Whatever the pick, I’m in………I’ve always heard that Richard Ford’s Independence Day was a good baseball-ish book? Of perhaps we could try Fever Pitch by Nick Hornsby, its got the Neyer stamp of approval and speaks to irrational fanaticism…..prerequisites for being long suffering Royals fans.

Whatever happened to romance?

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

has anyone read "The Brothers K"?
