Games 138 & 139 Open Thread - A's at Royals

Oakland Athletics at Kansas City Royals, Sep 4, 2008 5:10 PM EDT

Its the finale against those dastardly A's. The phrase "perfect storm" has been so over-used that it now refers to simply two bad things happening at once. That being said, or in those words, as it were, my moving and the changes to the Royals schedule have been a perfect storm of blogging difficulty.

I mean who are they using instead? Nick Punto(who is strangely used in almost the exact amount of leagues that Aviles isnt used in)???

One thing I sense when I watch him bat is,

there are some at-bats in which he just seems destined to strike out. Sometimes he looks like he’s absolutely in control of the strike zone and knows exactly what pitch he wants. But then sometimes, often in the same game as those good ABs, he looks hacky and lost at the plate. Maybe it’s my imagination, but it really looks like two different guys up there from PA to PA.

Butler still put one close to the track.

I’d read a month or so ago on Baseball Prospectus a remark made about Moustakas. He flew out to shallow CF and a few of the scouts kind of whistled and looked around at each other. The writer looked at one and asked what happened, why were they acting shocked. The scout had told him, the hang time on the fly ball was one of the longest he’d seen at that level in his time as a scout. He believed that showed good contact and great power.

Anyways, I say that because that’s what I see when Butler flies out a lot of the time.
