Game 142 Open Thread - Indians (68-72) at Royals (61-80)
Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals, Sep 7, 2008 2:10 PM EDT
Zack Greinke (3.67 ERA) takes on Forrest Lee (2.32 ERA) in a matchup of genius. These guys are like Niels Bohr and Erwin Schrodinger facing off at the Solvay Conference.
Just a reminder, but if you are interested in talking Chiefs today, Arrowhead Pride has a game thread up.

no more FSN on the weekends
until the end of the season. I won’t lie, I was more concerned with college football than the Royals yesterday. I doubt I’m the only one. But I’m listening today.
Butler is playing 1st today...
…not like we have TWO other 1B we desperately need to evaluate this month.
Injuns announcer just said
“Scott Grienke starting for Kansas City…”
Oy.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
So much for "Olivo starting the rest of the season"
Who started that rumor?
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Aviles went up as high as he could
and timed it perfectly. Missed it by a half-inch.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Man that was an awful pitch
Late on every fastball, and you throw him a slider? Ugh
realistically speaking
How the fuck did two runs score?
realistically speaking
Lazy asshole in the outfield not charging the ball
and runners going on the pitch.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
How is that not an error?
realistically speaking
There are these things called "the rules"
which stipulate that it’s not?
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
This is going to be a long game
Or a very short one, depending on how you look at it
realistically speaking
Did he throw any balls in that 9 pitch inning?

Sure, but we swung at'em
realistically speaking
I just threw up in my mouth a little
Indians announcers comparing Lee to Clemens.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.

0-2 to a walk to a horrible hitter
Loss of concentration I guess.
realistically speaking
46 pitches through two
blech
realistically speaking
So that's how Buck is successful against Lee!
He actually takes the balls! Genius.
realistically speaking
Ah, the Alberto method
Swing at two balls OUT of the strike zone then take one IN the strike zone. Genius folks
realistically speaking
Well we HAVE had two people on base, a hit and a walk.. we usually don't do one or the other the whole game.
"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
If Greinke could get back the fastball control he had his rookie year
We’d be looking at a possible sub 3 ERA
realistically speaking
currently, i think its still 7-3 Pats. the chiefs LB hit Brady in the ankle, so he had to leave the game.
"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
I just turned it on, looks ugly
realistically speaking
Gathright swings at one above eye level
realistically speaking
I really REALLY
want to go to a Royals fantasy camp.
If only I had 3 grand to throw at something like that.
I'm not old enuogh
You gotta be like 35 or something
realistically speaking
I could be wrong, but I think the idea is they don't want a bunch of young guys coming in
and raising the level of play too high ;]
realistically speaking
(Of course, by then it’ll be $10K.)
Well yes, because these things cost a lot more for a winning team.
Hah! Pronk's busy playing in the Eastern League playoffs.
Damned cheating Indians.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Cliff Lee owning us just like any other smart pitcher
28 strikes, 8 balls
just throwing it over the middle of th eplate
realistically speaking
Chiefs scored!?!! That's about as shocking as when the Royals take a walk...
Huard to Bowe.

True. Brody banged up his shoulder.
In other news……St Louis may be the worst team in the NFL this year. Down 28-0 to Philly. 8 offensive drives and 5 three-and-outs.

I dunno
I haven’t checked on them since late in the 1st quarter, but at that time Detroit was losing 21-0.
To Atlanta.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
ya, thats changed, detroits come back. but atlanta looked good.
"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
I hardly think outscoring the other team 14-10
after spotting them 3 TDs is “coming back.”
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
thats fine, i think that scoring at all is coming back some.
"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
St Louis 9 for 9 in punts now....DeSean Jackson about took a punt back to the house.
Ahhh Saint Louis…..I feel so much sympathy.

As if the fact that I've now referred to them four times isn't enough evidence
God, these Indians announcers are horrible. That last flyout by Guillen? “Lofts that one out to right field…”
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
i watched the two RBI singles from our game yesterday.
the analyst announcer said that the indians outfield did a horrible job at cutting off the throw since germy moved upt o second on the throw, then the next play DDJ singles them both in and the announcers are like “AH SEE! I TOLD YOU! THATS WHAT HAPPENS! GAH!”
"I can resist everything but temptation." - oscar wylde
Now buck swings at one abve eye level
we r good

Hey!~
they are really good lucking at first.

Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
Ooof, the Chiefs defense just left
a lane a mile wide for Cassel to creep through for an easy first down. 5 minutes left, 14-10.
I'm not feelin' the comeback
Any word on how bad Croyle’s injury is?
realistically speaking
I'm hoping it's severe enough
to require amputation of whatever it is.
Well, maybe not if it’s a neck injury. I suppose that would be TOO extreme.
Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.
He's really been awful
So unimpressive

it's his shoulder...not neck. so you're fine.
