Oh, and he also voted for Jay Bell.

Wha?

No Bert Blyleven? No Tim Raines? But Jay Bell?

Yes, that Jay Bell, regarded by Royals Review as the 100th Greatest Royal of All Time for his above-average '97 campaign.

who can blame him

he’s probably just being a dogmatic negativist, though

I think

He should come out of retirement and get those last 12 wins. He could probably be a solid #2 or #3 starter for the Orioles.

the thing is...

jay bell really had a pretty good career, and a really strange one

its interesting that he never got the steroids brand considering the way he just started hitting homers

Those late 90s/early 00s D-Backs

Are all full of older guys with power spikes. Matt Williams, Luis Gonzalez, Steve Finley, Bell….no one bats an eye, not even when Williams admitted to using steroids.

I'm glad I wasn't the one who said it

although we can be pretty sure that Mark Grace didn’t use them

or they were canceled out by his smoking

if players are getting penalized in the HoF voting for doing steroids that might have helped their performance, shouldn’t cigs could for them?

gotta adjust for era…
