Things are looking bloomquist!

70% chance of Willie parking his first bomb in the bleachers since 2007 looks great to me!

I’m a big fan of guys that have increased their OBP 5 years in a row. I think this is the year he breaks .400.

In fact if he gets that bomb last year his line shoots up to .279/.377/.303! A .680 OPS. Suck on that statheads!

Willie feels that you included him in your fancy-pants little HR chart...

just out of spite, and challenges you to create a chart showing how many times those other guys will do THIS during the season:

For the record, that is not dirt from the infield spraying up in front of him….THAT, my friends, is how much GRIT he brings to the party.

"I am sick and tired of [unintelligible] up with every [BLEEP]ing thing. No [BLEEP] from you guys, no [BLEEP] from you [BLEEP]ing players. And they can do any [BLEEP]ing thing they want to do. I’m sick and tired of all this bull[BLEEP]. Now…put that in your [BLEEP]ing pipe and smoke it."

That comes out of his jersey

he keeps it in there, and down his pants. That’s how Gritty he is. GRIT+ of 788!

dawned on me today

how did no one have Jim Abbot on the all-grit team?

70.5% chance, baby!

I mean, it will take him 650 PAs to get there. Maybe.

I think it’s worth it.

Sign him up!

Oh….we did? Shit, I wasn’t serious.

talking heads on MLBN were going over today about how the recession was affecting the baseball signings (with the exception of the Jankees) and how not accepting arbitration was killing some FAs. So….Burrell only got a two year deal….Dunn is still out there and might get only one year….and (sob) we signed Bloomquist for two years.

you just dont understand how hard it is for small market teams to get free agents without offering the more money and years

its the only way the royals could get willie b

how would it make you feel if he’d not resigned Gload and Rossie was wearing a Yankees uniform right now?

Dayton understands these things, just trust him

It's a bad joke.

So we needed more years and more money? We were discussing the pros and cons of signing Dunn for five years, once upon a time. Same with Burrell. The small market excuse is just a load of crap this off-season, especially with our bizarre signings. What would it have taken to get Pat the Bat to get over “wanting to play for a winner”? 10 million per? Another year? Sounds good to me! Meanwhile, Dunn is actually still a FA and there’s only a week left in my vacation….never would’ve guessed it.

it's funny how "certain" teams manage to find a "solution"

whenever a guy says he wants to play for a “winner” or “doesn’t want to DH”

“certain” = “smart”

“solution” = “money”

I am really having trouble getting over the Burrell

signing. Especially considering how much money us RRers were thinking could be devoted to just him or Dunn.

I'm tired of Tampa Bay always throwing their money around just to sign all the big name free agents

that’s the only reason the’re better than the Royals —

Another big market team east coast team outspending all the others, not bothering to develop their own players

If DMGM had Friedman’s massive budget, the Royals would have won 103 games in 2008

It'll come

in the bottom of the eighth inning, in a game we’re winning by 11.

Or losing by 15. I can’t be certain; the spirits are giving me conflicting auras.

Sarcasm™. It's the new gravy.

Like the bloop single that Charlie Brown's favorite ballplayer

hit in the ninth inning….

With his team up 15-3….

And he was so excited he messed up the autograph.

really? 6.9% chance of gordon hitting 25 homers?

25 is really what im expecting out of him

TPJ...you're dead to me

by billybeingbilly on Jan 15, 2009 2:02 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah,

but if I’m reading it correctly, there’s a 35% chance of 20. If he’s over 20, I’ll take it this year.

by Warden11 on Jan 15, 2009 9:46 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

well, according to CHONE's projections and my crude methodology

It would shock me if he hit 25

Breakout baby!

Seriously, thats what people are are thinking. And obviously projections can’t account for a sudden dramatic upswing like that. But i’d say its possible, and i’d go so far as to say the medium term future of this franchise depends on Gordon figuring it and being the player he can be soon.

We haven't had a guy hit 30

since Jermaine Dye in 2000. That’s pathetic.

Hopefully Gordon can put it together this year.

Waiting for April.

agreed

I’d still rather have Alex have a .370 OBP, 40 doubles, and “just” 20 homers, though
