Hillman Good at IBBs?
Here is an interesting article regarding the use of IBBs and, in particular, BAD IBBs, which surprisingly shows well for Trey. This link is to Beyond the Boxscore so that you can monitor whatever discussion ensues there. To see just the actual article, go here.
For our distinct purposes here, why do you think Trey might be good here? Accidentally? Does he just not issue IBBs in general?

My recollection
…was that HIllman used IBB’s fairly wisely. I don’t think he really avoided them; he just used them in fairly obvious situations. Some managers are more generous and imprudent with their use of IBB’s.

He is really good ...
… but I wish he was better at calling the SB. We were at 68% with 71% the break even point when it come to creating runs vice cost runs.

He worked too hard to “diversify the offense” by getting too “aggressive on the basepaths.” The Royals ran too much and didn’t maximize the base runner-pitcher-catcher matchups.

huzzah!!
I agree. Although, I’ll give him some credit for what seems to be some evidence of learning and adapting. He definitely did that early in the year, well, the first 2 months or so it seemed. At any rate, he seemed to tone that down at some point, after he finally saw it wasn’t working.
Even after that, there were still quite a few dumb base running errors although those were more the players’ faults.
I AM intangible!

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
Wonder if Poz agrees?

p.s.- Would an IBB of TPJ automatically count as a terrible IBB?
Trey issued the fewest IBBs of any manager in MLB.
The answer to your question is that he just doesn’t issue very many in general. Here’s the link to total IBBs by team.
