Royals Rally Late, But Can't Complete Comeback Against Twins

After trailing the Twins 10-0 in the fourth inning, the Royals made the game very interesting late, but alas, they could not get Lenny DiNardo a no decision.

Star-divide

  • The Royals ended up recording 14 hits tonight, which says a lot about the Twins, who continue to put Bobby Keppel out there for some reason. No Royal had three hits, which is sorta weird. Nope, it was all 1 & 2 hit nights for guys.
  • Lenny DiNardo was not good. Bummer.
  • Victor Marte was not good either. And hey, John Bale pitched!
  • Baird-era draftee Carlos Rosa was probably the MVP of the game, keeping the Twins at 10 runs for three innings in the middle of the game.
  • The lineups Trey has fielded this season have routinely been ridiculous. Josh Anderson leading off? The continual punishment/banishment of Alex Gordon hitting eighth?

always good to see the heart of the order choke a game-tying situation away

and great to see Josh Anderson’s stay in the leadoff spot result in good things in the 8th. What the fuck was he waiting for? a pitch he could bunt?

The lineup situation is the most

ridiculous thing about Trey.
It’s arrogant and it has failed.
It’s like we’re in little league and
everybody has to get some time.

Ugh, not playing Tug this year was a crime

Seriously, once we fell out of contention, what else was there to find out about Luis Hernandez?

granted

it was 10-0. We hadn’t shown any signs of coming back from 10-0 all year

2010 position player roster

first, the 2009 25 man roster with some deletions noted

Olivo, Buck, Pena, Butler, Jacobs, Callaspo, Gordon, Betancourt, Bloomquist, DeJesus, Maier, Anderson, Teahen, Guillen (through a quirk, I don’t think that specific 14 has been on the 25 man at the same time)

So let’s produce a list of 13. We have 3 openings.

Brian Schneider ©? Frank Catalanotto (spare OF)? Omar Infante (random infielder)

Knowing DM… Darin Erstad and Jason Michaels are on the shortlist.

But with that lineup and editions.. here is what Trey would do

1. DeJesus (LF)
2. Maier (CF)
3. Butler (1B)
4. Guillen (DH)
5. Callaspo (2B)
6. Teahen (RF)
7. Schneider ©
8. Gordon (3B)
9. Betancourt (SS)
bench: Infante, Pena, Bloomquist, Catalanotto

when Guillen gets hurt, you move Callaspo to DH, and put Infante at 2nd.

although this team seriously needs a spare outfielder, unless they’re under a delusion that Buntzilla is coming back

As long as Dinardo comes nowhere near this team again I'll be happy

I was fifteen rows up behind the plate watching this crap tonight and I started screaming at him about ten pitches in. The pitch he threw to Young might as well have been put up on a tee. It was nice to see them actually get back in the game but I don’t understand the rationale behind that AAA lineup tonight. Ogilvie…I mean Anderson amazes me at his ability to stay on a MLB roster.

Keep the obvious building blocks but throw the rest out and let the guys from Omaha do something. Can’t get any worse.

funny enough

Everyone complains about the crazy roster changes, but those guys produced runs tonight.

Anderson 1-3 1 RBI
Hernandez 1-1 2 RBI and 1 R

This goes along with our scrubs:

Betancourt 1-2 1 RBI
Maier 2-5 3 RBI

There’s your 7 runs. How about that for your run-driving power line up. Ha!
