OT: Iowa State - 9 Nebraska - 7 in Lincoln...
Okay, the Huskers did have 8 turnovers but the Cyclones were playing with a backup QB and a backup RB. Our Def. looked better than they ever have. I smell a bowl game in our future. Go Clones... we made some Husker fans cry today. 1977 was the last time we beat them in Lincoln. The victory scotch is flowing and I am headed to the neighbors for more. Go Clones..... Take that Gene Chizek... we now have won 5 games and you did that in two years. Auburn can have the likes of you and I hope they aren't planning on you staying there to long. Go Clones....

8 Turnovers is the most unacceptable thing conceivable...
well I guess 9 or more would be more unacceptable, but I didn’t know 8 turnovers was even possible.

My fervor for the Huskers has mellowed with age.......
but the Huskers were so good for so long (virtually unprecedented, and despite getting plenty of credit, didn’t get as much as they should have),its hard for me to get too worked up over the last 7 or 8 years. Good for Iowa State. We had a nice long run. It ain’t going to happen again. Husker fans are so delusional and right wing, I get a weird schadenfraude when they lose. A little rational analysis would have led you to believe that last week wasn’t that big of a surprise. On the same hand, just as many thought Neb was way better than they were, I suspect folks will go the other way now and think we’re worse than we are. Not sure if Pelini is the guy or not. Hopefully the fanbase stays together and doesn’t turn on Bo like they did on Callahan, who may have been fine with a new D coordinator and time to develop like Pinkel and Mangini have had.

more turnovers than points isn't good
they should have kicked fieldgoals when they got in the red zone.

what was even funnier.......
was the post game radio show with Bo….I swear to God, the hushed tones and the overwhelming sense of grief in the tones of Greg Sharp and Coach Bo made me laugh. It was as if some tragedy had occurred. The whole damn state needs to get some perspective. I had buddies at work who were bummed out because they thought the T Tech game extinguished our national title hopes? Really? Because we beat Mizzou in the rain, and lost like most good teams would never lose at Va Tech? Its damning evidence when a die hard Royals fan can smell the delusions of another fandom.

i said this same thing...
people here got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to high on the team after barely beating a very mediocre Missouri team. last week was a dose of reality. this week was just “LOL.”

Life is good in Iowa....
First the Cyclones upset the Huskers and then the Hawkeyes pull off a come from behind victory to be the Spartans with two seconds on the clock. Life is truly good …

Maybe following the Royals all these years.....
and being a baseball fan in general, have helped me understand wins, losses, and reality when it comes to honestly assessing the team you support. Good teams find a way to win, bad or mediocre teams seem to always come up short, not get the big hit, the good break, or the unexpected good performance. Or turn the ball over 8 times or give up a 71 yard pass with under a minute left in regulation.

i know no NU fan wants to hear this...
but next year could actually be worse. Suh’s disruption on every play covers up a very mediocre secondary and he’ll be going to the NFL. there are some other decent players like Crick on the d-line but they are no Suh… offense won’t even matter if they don’t get a better O-Line and wide receivers that can catch the ball.

very funny...
if they can beat Kansas I think they will have a decent shot at winning it. that’d give them a big tie break advantage.

I actually think it is really funny, even though I don't follow K-State as closely since graduating and moving to Tucson
I can’t believe a team that lost to Louisiana-Lafayette, UCLA (not a good team at all, 0-4 in Pac 10) and Tech (66-14) is in first place. State should enjoy it for now because it may not last, but as a whole, the North Division may be playing the worst Football in any of the BCS conferences and some the “lesser” ones. The WAC and Mountain West are fielding more competitive teams this year.

Could the apparent possibility of a 4-4 team
winning the North spark the conference to reconsider it’s alignment?
I doubt it – the argument to realign begins and ends with making a Texas-OU championship game possible – but realignment would also mean that those 2 would only meet during half of the regular seasons, and that would never fly with either school, IMHO.

Easy realignment for football:
Kick Iowa St. and Baylor/Texas A&M out for football. Then play a Big Ten type of schedule, but keep the title game.

Actually, need to play Pac - 10 style with real round robin of 9 conference
After following Pac-10 football, it is the only way to go, settling it on the field.

Your argument has some merit,
especially considering that on at least a couple of occasions, playing a championship game resulted in the loss of a Big 12 team playing for the National Championship. (K-State back in the early part of this decade, and MU back in 07)

I agree
I was unaware of the Pac-10 schedule. I really think the title game needs to be kept somehow. Maybe between the #1 and #2 team? But that sets up sour grapes type crap where #1 already beat #2 but they’ll have to do it again to get to the automatic BCS game, and #2 wins the 2nd go round. Not playing a title game can hurt too. Really, we know it’s all about the money, and getting the most teams possible into the BCS for the big payday, but it would be refreshing to see a playoff for the title. Take all the BCS games as the first round, and then add as many games as needed to finish. Even the +1 model is better than the current system for crowning a true national champion.

"true national champion"
not possible as long as the BCS exists – and u are correct in saying its all about the dollars.
Now, a true national playoff, including non-BCS schools, would produce MORE money than the current system, IMHO – but it won’t happen because the current system produces more money per BCS school, whereas including all conferences (like in basketball) would necessitate sharing the money with everyone.
Keep in mind – I’m not necessarily saying TCU or Boise State (for example, this year) could actually win a true tournament; rather, I’m saying its a SHAM to call a game a “championship” when undefeated teams have ZERO chance of being eliminated on the field rather than in a poll or via a computer.
In a nutshell, that’s why college hoops is SO much more interesting, at least to me, than college football.
