Happy 24th Anniversary, Royals

It was 24 years ago tonight that the Royals vanquished the hated Cards in Game 7 of the World Series. For just one day, I'm choosing to forget all the problems with the current regime and take some time to remember how awesome that year was.

Here's hoping history repeats itself sometime soon - at least once more before I die.

best case scenario for next WS win would have to be...

what? 2012? maybe?

2010: more of the same, system grows, few guys break out
2011: Meche’s final season, Gordon & Butler awesome, prospects contributing, Moore makes some good moves at the ML level, team makes playoffs somehow, gets bounced early
2012: Royals an AL Central powerhouse, win WS second time in playoffs

I really hope so

And if we do win the Series in 2012, there’d be no way he wouldn’t re-sign with them.

Best case scenario

2010 Before the season, Dayton Moore decides to leave baseball to to Dallas Theological Seminary and become best-selling author peddling heretic dispensationalist nonsense to poor dumb suckers who mistake it for Christiantiy. Competent GM hired. Yuniesky Betancourt, Guillen cut. Cruz, Farns, and more traded for anyone dumb enough to take on their salaries for ballpoint pens. Butler continues to hit, Gordo improves. DDJ traded for prospect. Teahen traded for “live arm.” Yankees stupidly give up Brett Gardner for something small. Meche also traded for prospect. Mass improvement, Royals get close to .500
2011: Some prospect start to contribute, cheap guys brought in, improvements, wild card/crappy AL Central bid, lose in first round.
2012: what RR said

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.
