observation
So Crow departs the game with two runs allowed while his team has scored zero runs, and then the next guy comes in from the bullpen and has so far allowed three additional runs. This is good practice for when he plays for the Royals.

surprise just needs to make some errors the next time he pitches
and then he’ll have had the full Royals starting pitcher experience.

They do have Moustakas on the team
shouldn’t be a problem
Crow beter not complain, becuase Moustaksa will rough him up with his awesome leadership skillz™ that are so awesome. That’s obviously why he got drafted, since it isn’t obviously isn’t for his hitting or fielding.
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

Unrelated but...
When a guy is rushed to the majors and ruined, I call it being Reichharted. Although you could call it being Gordoned.

They have to get Crow used to how they do things up in the Bigs
I am confident he is learning this fact today.

Not a bad outing for Crow...
especially for his 1st pro experience and facing some of the better minor league hitters.
I like the 38 strikes in 59 pitches (as reported above by nwroyal). Yeah, he gave up a HR , but according to gameday, the wind is blowing out to right (with gusts up to 30MPH!) – so it may have gotten an extra boost. I also like that he came back and struck the next hitter out.

one game doesn't make a career...
But, I didn’t see anything that screamed number one draft pick. I think AA will be a good place for AC to start out. Too bad about Blake he was having a fairly decent Fall. Mous’s bat was very silent. Again, a year at AA will be good for him. Just two days left in league play after todays loss the Rafters probably will not be in the playoffs.

AFL season
the AFL season goes through Nov. 19—so there are about 3 weeks left in the season.
If he can build up his endurance and pitch at 92-94 with the kind of movement his FB has, he will be just fine.

the 89-91 fastball in the fourth inning was the main thing that didn't look too good
but 4 innings seems to be about as much as the starters pitch in the AFL, so I’d expect the velocity to improve with more practice of pitching deep into games.
by swing and a miss on Oct 28, 2009 6:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
huh?
They actually play well into November. The AZ Fall League Championship game is scheduled for Nov. 21. Lots of games left (and by “lots” I mean 18 if I counted correctly).

He wasn't the number one draft pick
he was drafted in the first round 12th overall, I believe. Also Blake Wood’s celing is the 12th or 13th man in a bullpen.

He has to wait for Hosmer to get better, so he will be stuck in A ball for a while.
They have to room together for the process to work.

I kinda figure I can sell the idea to MTV just because the douche level will be off the charts.
Though I don’t actually think Moustakas is a douche. Hosmer just naturally looks like one, and the pictures of the HOS seats in his vehicle didn’t help.
