A couple of minor transactions
Nothing to get excited about, but at least these guys are upper-minor league talents (usually AA compares to indy ball). An ss an what could be an rf are things we need. Sorry if someone beat me to it.

My source is not good.
But a buddy of mine is a high school coach and played D-1 ball, his observation was the closest level in comparison is AA. Guess I shouldn’t have said “usually”.

i just have a hard time believing 22 year olds drafted in the late rounds of the draft....
are the equivalent of AA talent.
Very very few big time college players are even ready for AA at 22.

Indy leagues
I remember reading something on the Northern League (when JD Drew was playing there) that the quality of hitters was better than the pitchers, as most of the hitters had washed out somewhere between AA and the majors, while the pitchers were more A ball quality since MLB systems tended to hoard any healthy pitchers under age 25 with remotely good stuff.

So if somebody like Luke Hochevar or Aaron Crow pitched there
it would be somewhat the equivalent of AA for them, and at the worst High A.

i cant imagine the level being that high across the board
22 year olds like pedro alvarez who were the best of the best in the best conferences were started in Hi-A.
How many teams dump guys who at 22 put up these type numbers even Hi-A? If these guys were that good, they’d never have spent a day in crappy independent leagues.

Quality certainly varies by league and by team within a particular league
For the better indy leagues, most of the position players are guys who made it to at least AA but were just not good enough to make the majors, or got too old to be prospects, or got hurt. These are basically the guys who are a step down from the AAAA players that fill out AAA rosters — they might hold their own in AA or AAA, but because of their age or lack of upside, the major league organizations pass them over for younger guys or guys with upside. That’s why you do not see many 27 year olds in AA ball, even though they might perform as well as the 23 year olds who do play there.

i can see the older guys being AA level or so....
but a 22 year old who puts up numbers like these guys did, doesnt get dropped and then passed over by 29 other teams
