Game 162 Overflow Thread
I hate this team, I hate the Twins. Not a fun weekend.
If Joe Mauer gets 40 more hits today, he'll finish at .400 for season. Mauer Pauer!

Hernandez's walk
followed by Bloomer’s failure to hit into a DP ensures that Callaspo gets another PA. And the team BA title goes down to the last inning.

So, Tug comes in
Some sick part of me says they are trying to protect Callaspo’s average to make him look good and Butler worse.
But that’s just silly and I’m sure that’s not going on. It’s just that I even think it could be…

Butler stays over .300 and ahead of Callaspo
even if he makes an out.
i don’t think there’s any thought behind the move to bring Tug in for Callaspo — just another Treymove.

In my FanFest feedback survey last January...
…I suggested they have a workshop where they host a stat lesson, so that newbs like me could learn better about what some of these advanced stats are and how to use them.
So am I stupid or just naive to think it conceivable the Royals organization would do this?

they would never do it
but it is a good idea
most of the advanced stats aren’t that complicated as concepts
if you think about it, a “basic” stat like ERA is actually fairly complicated

They aren't, but it's been hard for me to find a good explanation of them for someone coming to them for the first time.
I’ve asked my husband to explain, but I find he’s not a very good teacher for me as he goes to the details before the big picture, and I need to know the big picture first (i.e. why you’d want to know that) before I get the math on how it’s figured.
But I do feel much smarter about it all at the end of this season than I did at the beginning.

that Bloomers is a good hitter because sometimes he gets 2 or 3 hits.
