Is Alex Gordon the next Clint Hurdle in KC?

I'm not judging, I'm just asking. They both came up to unbelievable hype and never turned into the players that management envisioned when they were called up.

To be fair, I don't know if the expectations were reasonable for either man. Actually, in fact, they definitely weren't. At least when Hurdle came up, he wasn't anointed the franchise's savior like Alex was.

Clearly, neither guy was the 'answer' to the Royals prayers. In Hurdle's time, that wasn't a major issue as the team had Brett, McRae, etal already there. In Alex's case, there have been no consistently outstanding offensive performers on this team. Perhaps Billy Butler will become one (geez I hope so), but will Gordon become McRae to Butler's Brett? Or will he merely continue drifting down the path of mediocrity and injury that has so far constituted his career in KC?

Between The Organization's

Mishandling of his progression and physical ailments, all traumatic and seemingly not chronic, I believe we will see the real Gordon next year. He has way more raw ability than Hurdle ever had. I see him as a .270/.350/.480 for the next 5 years, and I’d be happy with that. His defense should be better, too; he was good before the injuries. Please leave him at 3B, Treyton.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

Eerily enough

I believe the Royals mishandled Clint Hurdle’s physical ailments (injured back) as well.

Brett, Hurdle, Jackson, Greinke

No SI cover, no “next Hurdle” status for Gordon.

It might have been when he misplaced that magical severed hand

when his career went south. He must have used it to ward off injuries.

The Luke Skywalker of baseball, with not enough resolve to resist the dark side? That could explain a lot.

Wait. Sarah Palin's in Hong Kong? But who's watching Russia?

I was surprised to find that

Gordon managed to run up 10 errors in under 400 innings at 3rd. Impressive.

Hoping that the Tigers fire Leyland and steal Trey Hillman from the Royals
