If the Royals are intent on trading DDJ, I have a solution for them and the Yankees
We can trade DDJ to the NYY for Brett Gardner (CFer and SB machine), an MLB reliever, and possibly a throw in minor leaguer. Would that be fair value? I'm assuming the Yanks will make a run at Holliday in LF or Chone Figgins, as Damon is getting kind of old. DDJ can still play CF, and Melky can be a backup. Plus, I don't think the Yankees like Gardner all that much. Is this possible?

i like gardner...
but I wouldn’t give up DDJ for a guy who might not even be on their roster next year
if he might not be on their roster
get more in return
He’s arguably going to be as valuable as DDJ already (due to aweome defense), has lots of cheap team control yet, and is 24
If that Yankees are that stupid, then they’ll throw in other stuff, if they really want DDJ… why wouldn’t be crazy. It’s better than overpaying to bring Damon (who might not even be as good as DDJ anymore, or isn’t much better) back.
They should really be gunning for Holliday, though.
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs.

I hope they are gunning for Holliday...
I think Holliday is a national league player who was really exposed in the playoffs, showing how weak he was at hitting inside pitches. I like Holliday, but I hate the Yankees. Although I must admit, I did not expect his fielding numbers to be that good.
Second thought… I want the Yankees to go back to signing old players who are past their prime.
This space for rent.

Holliday seems to have some opposite field power
and at Yankee stadium that gets the ball into the jet stream. I think he would do very well in NY.

The main drawback to the link above is that you have to change stadiums to see all his hits, you can’t just get a generic overview of balls in play.
