Good news that we protected Bianchi and Parraz... but I guess we still kept Luis Hernandez... why, again?

Not really, looking at Hernandez's UZR he is most likely more valuable to....

another team desparate for infield defensive short stop (Like the Royals) then a best a utility player like Tug who is not going to be selected in the Rule 5 draft.

Go Royals!

We kept Josh Anderson too.

Oh happy day.

And there’s actually 40 players on it, so I assume no Rule 5 pick is forthcoming, unless they can still waive a player between now and then.

can they non-tender

a few players (buck, jacobs) and then have enough room on the 40 for a rule 5 pick?

The nontender deadline is Dec 12th, the draft is Dec 10th. So I think they could.

Yea

But they’re probably still trying in vain to trade them.

snap... he's not on it...

I guess he isn’t protected from the Rule 5 draft. Let’s hope we get lucky and he stays around.

Seems like a good candidate for someone to take him

Teams can stash him in the bullpen. He wouldn’t be the first submariner to surprise people.

I don’t really get protecting Jarrod Dyson. The odds of him getting drafted are pretty slim I would think. His only value would be as a pinch runner/defensive OF and I can’t see anyone keeping a guy on the roster all year who can’t hit. He’s not even much of a prospect is he?

Lotsa names we protected that don't make sense

Luis Hernandez. John Bale. Josh Anderson. Mario Lisson. Jarrod Dyson.

I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Chris Hayes, Brad Thompson or Jorge Campillo get selected.

Now that we set our roster

Who are the favorites to be picked in the Rule 5? Is there a list somewhere of who other teams are not protecting? I’d like to see a comparison on our guys vs. everyone else’s…

i'm against the dyson protection over hayes

but it seems as if people complain every year that some player isn’t protected while some scrub major leaguer from the previous year’s roster is kept on. the luis hernandezes of the world are only kept until they are cut for a FA signing. what good would it have been to protect hayes for a month and then release him?

eeeverybody's about Dyson this, Chris Hayes that...

while the biggest move of the offseason happens right under our noses:

Royals Re-sign Vance Wilson

*You think I'm good* "You know, that Farnsworth is pretty good." *You will give me 9 million dollars* "So, Farnsy, how does $9 million sound?"

Wasn't he the catcher in Bull Durham?

I made the joke last year, but it bears repeating

Is that Vance Wilson of Vance Refrigeration?

That means he has a hot wife

…and that’s definitely worth something to the organization.

Who's Vance Wilson?

You have a lot to learn about this team.

The actual link says "tigers resign wilson"

but the article says that the royals did. Weird.
