Royals Review Community Prospect List: #4

We move on to Prospect #4.  Aaron Crow won the last poll with a healthy 45% of the vote.  I've added the percentage of the vote each person on the list got--just in case you were curious how popular a choice they were.  As before, the choices are listed alphabetically and you can make your case in the comment section.

#1--Mike Montgomery--LHP--36%

#2--Mike Moustakas--3B--36%

#3--Aaron Crow--RHP--45%

I think Will Myers is just going to have a huge year offensively. very impressed with his athletic ability.

I haven't gotten any of these right...

or I guess I have not agreed with the masses. I have a good feeling about this one though.

i can't make up my mind between myers and hosmer

so many question marks and so much potential for both players. fortunately most of the should be resolved next season with the possible exception of whether or not myers can stay behind the plate.

I don't really get the different treatment of Moose and Hosmer

Moose cruised to #2, Hosmer is struggling for #4.

Anyway, I voted Duffy. Even allowing for the Wilmington factor, he has been very good throughout his pro career, and he is still just 20. He probably suffers from having Montgomery with him, but that’s not his fault. I like Myers, but 3 weeks in Rookie Ball isn’t much to go on.

Hosmer really struggled this year, while Moose did ok on the road and struggled at home

Hosmer also has zero minor league track record, so his season is really scary. Hopefully it was an off year where his eye sight was good enough for high school, but not good enough for pro ball. We’ll see how next year goes, but if it is more of the same, I don’t think it would be too early to label him a huge disappointment. Whereas Moose starts the year at AA (maybe?), and has KC in his sights by the end of 2011, or has a huge year and gets a September callup.

I haven't hit any of these yet... so I stayed with Duffy...

The year Hosmer had he doesn’t deserve to be in the top 5. A 20 year old who has put up great numbers and will be in AA next season should be in the top 5. But, he is a pitcher and not the next big bat. I smell a Colt Griffin coming on. I hope Hosey proves me wrong.

I think Duffy and Myers both deserve to be ahead of Hosmer

Hosmer should probably be #6.

I’m guessing SBNation doesn’t have this capability, but I think it might be a better voting procedure to have everyone rank their top 15. 15 points for a first place vote, 1 point for a 15th place vote, highest score gets #1 spot.

For example, Will Myers got more support at the #1 and #2 positions than Hosmer did, Hosmer got more at #3, and now Hosmer has a huge gap on him at #4 and will likely win.

first time this seems like a difficult choice to me

all of them (except Lough, probably) could be legit prospects, just some are closer to producing than others. but, i think i would be most disappointed to lose Myers than any of the others.
