"The bottom line," he said, "is it hasn’t worked here. It hasn’t worked. We have to do what we have to do to shake up our team and generate as much competition as we can. We have to put the pressure on (players) to go out and perform."

So bringing in Getz
Is going to inspire Callaspo to play better than he did last year? His bat is what it is, and if he could improve his D i’m sure he would have. Getz being there isn’t going to make it magically improve.
I hate this kind of BS pop-psychology.

Oh I agree with that. Just impressed with his first line.
I really don’t ever remember reading or hearing a quote from GMDM where he said “it hasn’t worked”.
I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

For sure
He’s acknowledged that things haven’t worked. That’s good. Hopefully he does something to change it around. We’ll see I guess, although I think this trade is just kind of more of the same.

Agreed
This is perhaps the first obvious (although not explicit) public recognition I have heard on Dayton’s part that what he’s been doing isn’t working. So, he has admitted he needs to adjust The Process.
I guess I’m hopeful, but also scared, as to what The New Process will yield us in 2010.

I was wondering if I was even going to see this quote posted on here.
I dislike what Dayton’s done so far too, but after hearing these comments I think maybe he should get the benefit of the doubt at this point. In the press conference, he pretty much admitted to trying to win now, and that hasn’t worked. So he seems to be going with a complete rebuild. I’ll be impressed if he sticks with “the process” for 2-3 years so it yields actual results. We all know how that usually goes around here.

the process
Up to this point the process has been about bringing in low OBP guys who are less than stellar defensively. So how this is trade shaking things up? Seems like business as usual from my vantage point.

Yeah, doesn't really sound conciliatory
If he thinks the team just needs to be shaken up, that tells me he thinks the process is still working, and that just a few things need changing.

There was more to it than just this quote
It sounded like a full on rebuild while acquiring a ton of 0-3 year service time players. He’s going young in order to compete 2-3 years down the road. It will be interesting to see if this philosophy sticks next year as well.

yup
the problem is that hes been too easy on the players
the fact that it took him this long to figure out th eteam needed a total rebuild says it all. DO we want to wait another three years for this guy to figure out his “introduction to baseball in the 21st century?”
how about some pressure on the GM to not being a laughingstock? Let’s bring in some competition, like, say, random dumbass scout #322

("dumbass scout" not meaning all scous are dumb, just the sort of person who would be competition for Dayton)

This sounds like an OS
The Process 95™
The Process ME™
The Process 2000™
The Process XP™
The Process Vista™
Will The Process 7™ really be stable, perform better, and use fewer resources? Or will The Process™ still abort in the middle of execution to conflicts in resource allocation or not having up to drivers?
