Edgar Osuna vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks
Just thought it'd be kind of interesting to go back through the MiLB season and check out how our guys did against our newest Royal Big League Roster addition.
It's worth noting that Osuna started on the mound for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on opening day of the 2009 A+ season. If you don't want to check out all the inning by inning stuff, you can just know that he faced the Blue Rocks 3 times. 17.0, 16 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 8 K, 0 HR, 2.12 ERA
Moustakas was 2-8, 2 singles, 3 RBI, 1 K. Bianchi was 2-8, 2 singles, 2 RBI, 1 K. Derrick Robinson was 3-9, 1 K, 3 R, 4-4 SB. Lough was 3-8, double, 2 RBI. Giavotella was 2-8, BB, R.

you are right, that is kind of interesting
would like to see a little higher K rate, but seems like he’s a solid pickup. for fun, check out his minor league stats compared to soria’s. i would have thought joakim would have blown him away, but not so.
let’s hope we hit the jackpot again!
He has a good K:BB ratio
That means at least he attacks the zone. I think he’ll benefit from the tutelage of Brian Bannister.

Chaeck out his Winter League stats
Right now, he seems like a LOOGY. Using him out of the pen, he has crazy good stats (though kind of a high HR rate).
HR rate
The high HR rate in Mexico is consistent with his minor-league record.
Osuna is a decent prospect who probably needs two more years in the minors; that’s probably why the Braves left him unprotected. With the dearth of lefties in the ‘pen, I expect Osuna to make the roster, but I think he’ll struggle. Hopefully, his stint in the majors won’t set back his development, and he can go to Bentonville or Omaha in 2011 and resume preparations to eventually become a starter.
What's a LOOGY?
Sincerely,
Trey in Texas

LOOGY
Left-handed one-out guy.
Osuna’s splits aren’t extreme, so I don’t see him as a LOOGY. John Bale might have been a LOOGY if he was better; as it was, he was passable against lefties and batting-practice bad against righties.
Uh, I think you missed the joke, aquaman.
Reread my post, paying particular attention to the fake signature.

Thankfully Osuna isn't a LOOGY
