I actually wouldn't mind getting Johnson

He was better than Getz last year even with a terrible BABIP of .249. He like Alberto and Chris isn’t much of a fielder though. Might as well just stay static with Alberto at 2b but I’m sure Getz will be the starter.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

Johnson should be worth a look for someone

He’s about as good as Mark DeRosa, is younge,r and will likely come cheaper. Not sure how he would fit in on the Royals, but he’s about a league average player. He’ll only be 28 next season.

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs.

Let me put it another way

If Rick Ankiel gets more money than Johnson this offseason, someone’s either being really stupid or someone is being really smart… Johnson’s probably a much better hitter.

I can see signing Johnson if he comes at around $2M more or less and the ROyals can get a good return for DDJ. in trade.

DDJ probably should be traded

It’s what bad teams should do, and he is the most valuable piece the Royals have who they will think about moving.

But the idea fills me with dread. I don’t see any scenario where Dayton doesn’t get bent over in any deal. He doesn’t rate DDJ, someone else rightly will = Train wreck.

He would be a positive acquisition for the right price

But I have no idea what the Royals would do with 3-4 second basemen (Johnson, Callaspo, Getz, Aviles).

Probably Play Them

In inappropriate positions, if history is any indicator.

Well, I dunno about you

but I definitely see a CF, a C, and a RF there!

While we're stamping out multiple acquisition posts

can we have a moratorium on “Braves release” and “Mariners release” posts too?

This is one time

Where I think DM’s fetish for ex-Braves could be a plus here. Getting KJ and Ryan Church for cheaper contracts would help this team.

It could

I’d rather have Johnson, but Church is good. Langerhans is obviously out there — not quite as good as Church or Johnson, and older, but he’ll also come cheaper and he’ll stay healthier than Church.

Also would be fun to see a guy who’s big (6-3) but is a defensive whiz.

not an ex-Brave, but Gabe Gross (non-tendered) would be preferable to Church, as well. Defensive whiz in RF, has been a platoon guy, but probably at least league average overall.

the top secret plan...

Kendall will play SS where he can relay signals to josh fields who will be converted to catcher. Yuni will play CF where he can show his amazing range.
