Royals Review Community Prospect List: #6
We move on to Prospect #6. If my math is right, whoever wins this poll should have 42% of the vote. I'll have prospects #12-7 up tomorrow.
As before, the choices are listed alphabetically and you can make your case in the comment section.
#1--Mike Montgomery--LHP--36%
#2--Mike Moustakas--3B--36%
#3--Aaron Crow--RHP--45%
#4--Eric Hosmer--1B--44%
#5--Will Myers--C--43%

I thinks pretty obvious, Wil Myers is the 5th and 6th best prospect in the Royals system.

I Went Entirely
On comments made on this site and voted for Duffy. It would be nice to see him on the big team by 2011, giving us the crucial LH starter we so sorely need.

I voted for Melville
But I can easily see the case for Duffy. He’s proven more and I’m usually a performance guy. I just think Melville has higher upside, and wasn’t too shabby in his first year either.

I think the top 8 prospects in the system are pretty clear, but the order is fungible
I would say that Montgomery and Moose are 2 of the top 3 and Bianchi and Melville are 2 of the bottom 3. Besides that, I wouldn’t have any argument with any order of the top 8.
Obviously these lists are pretty subjective. You could argue that talent, projection, performance, or proximity to the majors are all the most important attribute from which to rate the player.
For instance, I could easily make a case for Wil Myers being #3 based on talent and performance or #7 based on how close he actually is to the majors. Duffy – who I voted for this round – is also a case of someone who could go #3 or #7.

flame-throwing lefty clemson product with an excellent curveball but with poor control and lacking results.

I voted for Bianchi
and it was not for any rational reason – it was because I’m DYING to see this franchise develop a middle infield prospect that actually produces for more than one season.

Amen, brother
I have been voting for Bianchi since spot #2 (and it looks like I will have to opportunity to keep voting for him for a while).

Assuming Dayton Moore doesn’t trade them all for Juan Pierre or something, can the Royals expect 4 good to excellent starters in Montgomery, Duffy, Melville and Crow? How would you rate those 4?

Montgomery, Crow, Melville, Duffy, but Melville could easily end up the best of all. Duffy is the one guy in the group on whom I’m not all that high.
Finally...
Duffy will be in Omaha by the end of the season. He could even get at call up in September. A good lefty is worth his weight in gold. Here’s hoping that he can be a good reliable lefthander for the Royals. That is if he doesn’t get traded for Pudge.
