"I think it's important that we build around Zack Greinke and Joakim and Billy Butler, Gordon, [pitcher Luke] Hochevar, Callaspo. That's not to say that if we get some type of offer on any of our players, we wouldn't have to look at it and be open-minded," Moore said.
GMDM in the Kaegel article on the KCRoyals.com site this morning. Unless he recycled the quote and didn't really talk to GMDM...if we are building around Callaspo, where does Getz fit?

I think Getz gives them flexibility
for if they do get a decent offer on Callaspo or want to move him to a different position.
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs.

Trying to improve the Royals’ defense, Moore also mentioned that “[Yuniesky] Betancourt and Getz will give us some steadiness in the middle.” Although Callaspo is assumed to be available on the trade market because of Getz’s arrival from the White Sox, Moore noted that manager Trey Hillman could “mix and match” both players in the lineup. Callaspo could play some third or outfield as well as second.
“Alberto was better once Betancourt was there, but it just gives us more consistency there with Getz in the mix,” Mooresaid. “The guy had six or seven errors in 100 games or something like that, so he’s a pretty sure-handed guy and a heady player.”

This was posted yesterday yesterday
There are a lot of good Dayton Moore quotes in that article
guess I missed it.

I don't think they're actually looking to offload Callaspo
Probably just listening to offers.
If Butler plays 1st,
he’s the best DH we have. I don’t see any reason to be giving up runs in the outfield…
that "he" means Callaspo, not Butler...
long day…
I still think...
AC – 3B
Getz/Willie – 2B
AG – 1B/DH
BB – DH/1B
is what we will see alot of next year….Aside for the offensive abortion @ 2B I like it better than last year.
BOOM! ROASTED!
I don't think so
I think they still like Gordon as the everyday 3B.
Getz will get the everyday job at 2B.
Butler is the everyday 1B.
Callaspo will get a shot at right field, but I think he’ll be more of an extra utility guy because I have a weird feeling Guillen will stay at RF.
Is Jose Guillen gonna have to choke a bitch?
To keep his RF job? Because seriously, he will.

I agree about Gordon at 3rd
If they wanted to move him off 3rd, I doubt they would really hesitate to trade him for Pie, which they have already balked at (according to Dutton).
