Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Nothing earth shattering, and in fact, 90% of it is exactly what you'd expect to hear from him. But there were a few things I noticed:
1. Trey seems to go out of his way to give Aviles a vote of confidence, both in coming back (early?) from the injury he concealed and in his ability to replicate his 2008 performance. He's still a dirty liar, but apparently some level of trust has been restored.
2. Butler will be the primary 1B next year, NOT the primary DH.
3. This is the first time I remember hearing about a DDJ shift...nah, not to center (stop being silly)...to RIGHT. Which then means either Fields or Callaspo in LF.

Welcome home, Derek Saito!

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs.

yeah, that was it

but knowing Dayton, he’s more likely to trade for someone like Jack Hannahan

by marbotty on Dec 10, 2009 8:04 AM EST up reply actions

I'd rather have Hannahan, actually

He’s probably a +10 defender at 3B, heck, I’d play him at SS over Yuniesky any day.

Is moving DDJ to right that big of a deal?

Is his arm good enough to really make it worth it? Is it really even that big of a deal to have a big arm in Right?

It's a little overblown, but if you have a weak arm in RF

baserunners will be more willing to gamble on going first to third.

Oh durr...

For some reason I could never get past the mythical throwing a guy out at first on a base hit to right.

DDJ's arm isn't that strong though...

not a prolific Ichiro arm…

yeah, RF might be a bad idea for DDJ

I think he can still hack CF acceptably, but while his range is good, and his arm is good in left, I think it will be exposed in RF

Just My Observation

But sometimes his arm looks horrible and sometimes it looks passable, but it never looks like a good candidate for RF.

Or any other scrub outfielder that is available.

I used to work with an old man that told me- Son, every workplace has a dumbass. If you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
