OT. Statistical formulas

so, I didn't make my school's baseball team, but the coach has heard me talk about baseball and has read my articles in the school paper and he is "impressed with my love and knowledge of the game" so he wants me to take stats and give him reports about the players using most of the basic stats in the game. he says he wants everything.

well, I'm a little shaky on most of the formula's so does anybody know where i can find on the internet how to do that stuff.

i don't need anything like vorp or win shares. but i do need stuff like OBP and ERA and stuff like that.

so any links or if any of ya'll know them off the top of your head thats also good.

i admit to my noob-ness in not knowing these things like any respectable baseball fan should but i need some help.

This article might be a rough so feel free to ask questions

It is a basic evaluation of of the average number of runs score in each situation. Probably the best look at high school baseball, but very heavy

stupid fingers

for amateur baseball, maybe runs created would be useful for the coaching staff. Just a thought….

I dunno

if you mean the James version, I don’t think so. It’s problematic enough for MLB, but high school is a very different run environment, so it might really misrepresent who’s good.

If you’re willing to get into BaseRuns — that’s a dynamic run estimator that can apply to any sort of baseball-type game to give you the proper weights of events, whether it’s MLB or an Israeli softball league. Might be a bit think, though.

Bringing you more-or-less replacement level analysis and commentary since sometime in 2008.
