AL Central Top 10 Prospects
4. Eric Hosmer - 1B - Kansas City Royals
Positives - He has big time power potential thanks to his size, swing and bat speed. Hosmer also brings an advanced approach to the plate, especially for someone coming out of high school. He is also reported to be a good defender at first base both on the bag and has good range for the position.
Negatives - He has a handful of professional at bats to rely on for any real data. There were also a few questions about the holes in his swing coming out of the draft, but there weren’t questions about them being fixed. Given his track record though, he just needs to show that he can do that.
9. Daniel Duffy - LHP - Kansas City Royals
Positives - A young lefty with good, but not overpowering stuff mixed with very good control. His fastball is in the low 90’s and he has an above average curveball.
Negatives - He allows a ton of fly balls which likely means his HR rate will climb as he moves up. He also has a relatively small track record with less than 130 innings pitched as a profession and all of which came in the low minors. He also needs a third pitch to be more consistent.
There are also league previews that take a look at Derrick Robinson, Hosmer again (different write up) and Kila Ka'aihue.
